Suppose I'm running a virtual box and it gets hacked(or infected with a virus). Is there anyway the hacker or virus can gain access to the host machine? I would assume yes, but I was told by someone that it's the opposite so I thought I'd ask more knowledable peoplethanks

It may be possible to take control of the host, and through that to take over the guest. But, I am sure that the opposite is not possible.

Depends how you setup the virtual machine. If you set it up properly, no, they can't access your host.

Just don't network the host and the guest through a bridge. Instead, let VMware create a network adapter for the guest and use that, it's an option in most virtualization tools. Though you still do end up with two computers on the same network and anything that could be done through a standard network can still be done.

So the options I have are: Bridged(not using now), NAT, Host-only, and Custom(with a drop dowm menu). Im using VMware Workstation 6. Which do I pick? Thanks for your help!
Probably a dumb question about virtualization
