Or does it matter much? I have used Spywareblaster for years but dl'ed Spyware Terminator today (gee, reading too much on this site - gotta try everything!). Seems that it is a little more robust and it is automatic whereas Spywareblaster is updated manually.
I did a scan with ST and all was clean, so SB must have been doing its job!
EDIT - Man, Real Time Protection on ST is like Comodo - pop ups to allow or block services.
-
I tend to like Spyware Terminator better. I'm using it on my dad's PC, its nice with the real time protection. Updates are also automatic. The one thing that keeps bothering me about ST is that it keeps giving me runtime errors on XP Home. So now I'm running it along with ThreatFire. I don't know how it is in Vista as I prefer to use KIS.
If you like SB and doesn't feel a need for change, then I suggest don't bother to change. Or just keep both.
-
How about spybot? I think its better than both.
-
Spybot S&D? I had it too for a while, but it seems I read that Spy Blaster stops it at the door while Spy S&D actually will allow it in, but just will not let the bot work. Or something like that....

Neither one

Well, I already nuked ST. I HATE intrusive pop-ups, even in the "training" stages.
Thanks for the insight AKA - any suggestions beyond overpriced coffee makers?

I am pretty satisfied with windows Defender. Although people here might say that it doesn't detect anything, it has a good detection rate for real spyware.
-
My Windows Defender never found anything for me, to the point I don't even realize that it is running all the time. Currently I'm trying out ThreatFire behavioral blocker plus MBAM for on-demand scanner. Both are free. Hope it turns out well.
Weird on ST though, mine never asks for anything except on the first day. -

So far Spyware Terminator hasn't done a damn thing for me. Maybe it's that I'm not visiting any sites that I'm not suppose to or something. SpywareBlaster does a better job in blocking certain ads or banners that are on it's black-list. Pretty good IMO.
-
I tend to like ST and I don't mind the popups or warnings it produces. People should realize that a lot of the spyware is usually targeted for IE. Firefox is not as bad when it comes to spyware.
If I run IE, i'll usually pickup a lot more detections than I would with Firefox. -

You get what you pay for
What I use is documented on my website. -
a squared

Thanks McG - but so that I understand, the A-Squared free version is just a scanner, right? The free version does not block - it does not have live protection. Right?
SpywareBlaster or Spyware Terminator?
