Earlier AVG found 3 worm/spybot.xxx files on my computer, but it wouldn't let me do anything to them. Couldn't delete it, put it in the vault, or heal it. I installed and ran AntiVir, Avira Anti-Rootkit, Spyware Doctor, a-squared, and Online Armor (all free editions). Before now I only had AVG and Ad-Aware, and Ad-Aware was rarely used. I uninstalled AVG and because I thought it might interfere with Avira, and I forgot the file extension to the worms. I googled the full file name when I first saw it though, and there were no results. When I googled it without the extension, two websites said Spyware Doctor could fix it, but it never found it and the free edition only scans. A-squared found a trojan and 74 other "detected objects", but it didn't save the report (used to AVG). The trojan was the only object with a "high" threat level though. I'm about to reinstall AVG to get the file name again, and to see if it might have been taken care of without me noticing. I'm also wondering if system restore would fix this. I've heard that safe mode makes trojans easier to find somehow, is this true and does it apply to other viruses (worms?)? Is there some magic solution that would fix all of this right now (other than reformatting o__O)? Is this as serious as I think it is? Until I know, I need anything and everything. If something has a higher success rate, I could care less how slow it makes my computer or whatever. <.<

Use the NOD32 trial. If it doesn't let you clean, then buy it.
-
Does having multiple AVs installed cause problems/shoud I uninstall Avira before installing the NOD32 trial?
-
It generally shouldn't but you never know. It might be a good idea to do this but i generally wouldn't worry about it unless NOD32 warns you about it during install.

Maybe worth downloading a squared as well.

I tried a-squared, it found a trojan and some small threats. NOD32 found nothing, but the log mentions alot of "error opening", "is OK (internal scanning not performed)", and "archived damaged - the file could not be extracted" messages. I'm guessing the virus infected the damaged archives?

It seems to be adware/trojan so install things like Spybot Search and Destroy and SuperAntispyware.

Any way to fix the damage?
EDIT: My friend says he uses Symantec, which I've heard bad things about. <.< Would good free security software be better for him? o.o -
Norton is really good in removing infections. it saved my laptop's life once.
