This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    What's the best anti=virus program that isn't a system/resource hog?

    This is a good independent test site: http://www.av-comparatives.org/.

    NOD32 and Avira seem to get the best overall ratings these days.

    I use Avast! Home edition because I prefer freeware and Avira has a nag popup every time it updates. (Actually, can someone confirm that Avira still does this?)

    Yes, Avira free still " offers" the nag popup.
    Here is the how-to manual to disable the Avira Free popup.
