    Which Symantec to choose?

    Hi everyone, I bought a new computer and I installed Avira Free antivirus while I got back to campus so I can get a complete package that they offer for free. Today I went to the campus and they told me they had two packages, symantec antivirus 10 or symantec endpoint protection 11. I didn't know which on to choose so that's why I am asking you guys which is better overall? Or should I stick with the avira free edition over the complete symantec packages?

    Stick with Avira free if your school will allow it.

    I now go to U of Pittsburgh and they make us use Endpoint Protection 11. I wish I could use Avira Free, would choose it over this.

    Ok then thank you, i think I will stay with the avira software. So far it has been great no virus on my computer

    I would definitely stick with Avira or AVG.

    Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) 11 has been very, very buggy! Slowdowns, disconnections, and problems galore, even after many patches! Stay away from SEP.

    Enterprise and corporate products from Symantec, McAfee, etc. are only useful for system admins to manage thousands of computers. They run with a higher overhead.

    Just stick with Avira. If you want to spend, go with NOD32 or Kaspersky.

    Usually the corporate Symantec products come in two versions like the client and server. You will be using the client version and it will run much lighter than the admin or server version.

    Buy kaspersky of ebay, its only cheap. Better than norton.

    Lelouch, you're my "answerer" for the question about those enterprise and corporate products of Antiviruses(I asked this question in this forum long time ago). I know they are bad but I don't know how bad they are and why they are bad. Thanks for clearing it.

    To OP,
    Stick with the almighty Avira Antivir Personal 9 if you want FREE stuff. If you have golds, go for great antiviruses, such as Kaspersky Internet Security 2009/2010, Norton Internet Security 2010/2009, ESET NOD32 and Avira Premium Edition!

    Thank you all for the advice, I will stay with the avira free edition, so far I had no problems with my computer regarding virus so there is no need for a change. I asked the question mainly because I thought my university required that we used one of those two options, but it turned out they don't so I will stay with the avira free edition thank you very much.
