This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Facinating discussion people, who needs cable TV for entertainment?
    I agree LaptopNut, I recently installed UAC Trust shortcut an it works great. M$ should buy them out and add its features to Windows 8 IMO. It runs as a service and allows one to create shortcuts (for programs like HWINFO) that run sans UAC prompting. (All while having UAC set on the most secure setting).     I keep my one on default. Although it is annoying it can actually be quite helpful at times.

    You have to remember at the primitive days of computing OS security isn't a priority. They couldn't even get reliability right. ;)
