This is the question I would like to know the answer too as well.
At home I use NIS 2009 which is about to expire in 3 months. At work we use SEP 11 MR4. I tested the anti virus component and both seem to catch the same viruses, but I am not sure how does the firewall from SEP compare to NIS. At home I use Vista 64 and at work Vista x86. Both programs seem to take similar amount of memory, but I think SEP is still using scanner engine from Symantec Corporate 10. Also, NIS acquires updates multiple times per day, whereas SEP still uses the old Live Update and even though you can configure it, I don't think it's as good as NIS.

For me the ultimate question is: should I renew subscription to NIS 2009 ( Fry's has it for 9.99 1 user-3 pcs) or get a freebie SEP from work?

Any help or advice is appreciated.
