I think I'm going back to a RAZR HD. My Nexus 4 was perfect in every respect except battery life. This S3 has amazing battery life with the official 3000mah extended battery, but I still hate Touchwiz and the physical home button.

I went back to a Galaxy Note II. The N4 is nice but between the battery life and the other issues (namely headphone output quality) I had to go to something else.

Additional Sony Xperia SP Details Revealed | Ubergizmo

It's a shame this Xperia is being overshadowed by the Z/ZL, because apart from the small 8 GB internal memory, it looks like a really nice mid-range device. I would like to see more phones carry this dual core variant of the S4 Pro SoC, at times I think the quad core processors goes to waste and having that stronger GPU paired up with the dual core processor is a really good compromise in GPU acceleration and gaming while not annihilating the battery.

Yes it is. And bear in mind, those are leaked images. I've seen other "leaked" images of the S4 floating around cyberspace which depict the S4 looking nothing like that. I will reserve my infallible judgement until Samsung actually gives a press release of the new S4 with photos.

    I don't see how it's ugly.
Then again, with the possible exception of the iPhone4, I've never felt a handset looked good either.

Ah well, no matter what it looks like, I'll be getting one :D

It just doesn't look right, or at least, not a design improvement over the GS3. But like I said, I will not jump to any conclusions until I see the actual phone that will be sold.

I'm loving the HTC One personally. I don't need an SD card slot or removable battery, pretty happy that the HTC One is using Lithium-Polymer, and so far, battery tests are showing excellent results. I'm really loving the dual front facing speakers of the One, and Sense 5, as well as the design aesthetics, and the low light camera performance. My last 2 phones being Samsung I've grown really tired of them, and the cartoonish touchwiz and the cheap looking polycarbonate and plastics they use.

^ Phistachio has you beat by a few hours. ;)

So it's an elongated Galaxy S III with what appears to be an aluminum frame. Still wish Samsung would do away with that hyper glaze coating.

Why not stick with the Mali T604/T658?

IDK, I prefer PowerVR. Mali is good, but there are far less issues and a more stable performance from the PowerVR GPU's.

What is wrong with the Nexus 4 battery life? I've had it 20+ hours unplugged down to like 6%, and ask yourself when are you never near a micro-USB charger? Is it Note 2 battery life? Nope, but it's also not Note 2 prices.

That physical home button makes opening Google Now and multitasking a pain.

The home button ruins it for me. I love how I can swipe up on the Nexus or Razr to open Google Now.

On Wi-Fi, battery life is great, but on 3G it's horrible. Like less than 2 hours of screen on time.

Knowing Samsung and its secrecy, for all we know that is an intentionally leaked internal design variant. It's what they did with the S3 last year.

I just use Apex Launcher and have gesture down on the home screen to open up Google Now. Very quick and easy. I really appreciate the physical home button when waking the device up; it makes much more sense being able to do so with one finger when the device is sitting flat on a table.

Although I think Samsung should just ditch S Voice and set double-tap of the home button to open up Google Now.

I've recently had to change my habits for my phone, since our DSL line has been having issues, I use 4G all the time, no noticeable dip in performance. Is your Nexus 4 on 4.2.2? Going to 4.2.2 made a HUGE difference for me in terms of battery life. Of course if I play games on my Nexus 4, the battery life is pretty awful, but any smartphone will be like that, and hence I bought my Tab 2 tablet.

I was on 4.2.2. I actually just sold my Nexus 4 over the weekend, but I already want it back.

I don't think it was a rogue app. Battery life was great on Wi-Fi, but anytime I did anything on 3G it would drain pretty quickly.

I love the case design--arguably the nicest-looking flagship smartphone out there right now--but the reviews I've read suggest that its "ultrapixel" camera just doesn't take very good real-life pictures, regardless of how good it sounds in theory. The dual front-facing speakers would be great for streaming media and gaming though.

I'm pretty certain nothing was deliberately leaked.
What they did was create multiple designs on the off-chance one was leaked but when they were shopping the hardware round the networks, the handsets were held in in box things that masked the aesthetics whilst allowing access to the screen.

So the decoys were a second line of defence after generally extreme secrecy.

As for the 3D rumour, I can't see Samsung gambling like that on such an important handset, especially since they're not one of the brands that has pushed it before.

Nuts, figured out why this Note 2 was a bit cheaper than the others...loose USB port. Picked the phone off the table and the cable just fell right off without any tension.

Any legitimate fix for this? I'm starting to wonder if this has something to do with why the phone sporadically makes USB connection 'notifications' when just left plugged into a computer. The first Note 2 I had didn't do this.

EDIT: I just noticed the phone shows discharging for the last four hours...it's been plugged in the entire day.

Have you tried sending it in for repair? Samsung will pay for the shipping(UPS 2 Day). Samsung's warranty is like Apple's in that the warranty goes with the device, not the original owner.

In other news, I'm back to a Nexus 4. Just purchased one on eBay.

I'm sure it is going to be a great phone, but god damn am I bored with Samsung's designs. As HAL mentioned, they have made premium feeling handsets in the past like the Captivate (though I thought it was kinda ugly) and also IMO their best designed phone ever was the Omnia 7. I still have my Omnia 7, and can't believe that Samsung didn't make more phones with that design language.

Also, when phones had less advanced screen resolutions, 800x480 I was a huge fan of AMOLED tech. But at this point, IPS LCD wins for me hands down. Pretty disappointing if the leaks turn out to be true, but not surprised. Samsung is in a position that Apple was a few years ago, they really do not need to change up their designs to sell a TON of phones.

As I said on Engadget... it's the Galaxy SIIIS.

How much can Sammy really change the Galaxy S design? You can keep giving it incrementally bigger screens, but then you end up breaching the Galaxy Note design space.

I guess they can switch between pebble and square shapes. :)

To say Samsung phones in its smartphone design...well, it's disrespectful to telecommuters. And I'm saying this as a happy GS3 owner. But geez, a bit of effort in the styling department wouldn't kill ya, would it?

Spoke to a Samsung customer support earlier this evening and they expected a turnaround time of three weeks. :(

I brought it up with a co-worker, he managed to pull some strings and I did an exchange with a new one at an AT&T store, and I took the opportunity to swap for a white one. I didn't realize how loose the connection on that unit was until I played the one at the store and this new one. Was tempted to go CyanogenMod on this one but ended up going back to a N7105 firmware again...it just works the best with the Note.

It would be nice for the Galaxy S IV to use the same SoC globally like the Note II, and I'm curious about this PHOLED screen as well. Hopefully it's a RGB pixel arrangement?

The purported size and resolution of the screen the 'S4' will have means a far higher pixel density, so you can't assume anything based on the Note2.

Remember the S2 had sAMOLED+ with an RGB sub-pixel matrix yet the Galaxy Nexus and S3 both reverted to pentile.
Not that I think anyone can genuinely tell, especially not at nearly 450ppi.
