Yeah, the cutoff display is probably the biggest thing that sold me on this over the 360. I really like the overall design and looks of the 360...not that I dislike the GWR's design. From what I've read, since the 360 has virtually no bezel and is almost all screen, the actual hardware is stuffed into that cutoff bit. Since the GWR has a much more substantial body around the display, that hardware is more easily spread out.
As for charging, it comes with a dock. It's not true wireless induction charging like Powermat or Qi (my phone uses Powermat and it's really nice), but you just place the watch on the dock and the 5 contact points line up, no plugging in the watch itself.

That's a pro & con of the LG GWR vs Moto 360. The 360 has true wireless charging. But at the same time, the GWR can take any standard 22mm watch band. The 360 can't, it needs a special slim strap to fit under the back of the bezel.
I actually like the bezel on the GWR. It gives it more of a watch look. Maybe it'll be my birthday present to myself.

Asus may have just dethroned the Moto G as the best value at/below $200 in the US market. The Asus ZenFone 2 costs $199 unsubsidized, and has a 5.5" 1080p display, 1.8GHz Intel processor (Z3560), 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage with microSD expansion, a 3,000mAh battery, and Android 5.0. It's hitting the US market Q2 2015.
ASUS' new LTE phablet gives plenty of bang for the buck -
But will it be on Verizon?
Getting sick of looking for a new phone and seeing cheaper prices for every other carrier.

Jay-sus Christ! $1200 for a Walkman?
Hi-Fi audio is not prevalent enough (especially in mobile devices) to warrant such support. -

Given it being dual sim, highly unlikely it will be on Verizon (that and at that price point, no way they could have gotten an LTE radio for CDMA carriers). That's a major reason why I will be leaving Verizon, hate the locked choices, crappy Android phone selection, capped data. -

That...is not a really good product/idea. With phablet phones easily exceeding 1.5-2-2.5 days of battery life...and flagship phones are reaching close to 2, of course depending on all your usage. This might work for college students...but not everywhere has a microUSB/Lightning connector/power outlet. -
Most people would be close enough to a power source to charge once every five hours.
Not to mention, you don't necessarily have to wait until your phone is dying - if you're about to leave the house or work or wherever, a couple of minutes charge and you're completely full again.
Anyway, the company behind it are working to increase the capacity of their cells, they're not attempting to bring it to market in it's current form. -
If my phone can't go 12 hours with moderate usage then it might as well be a paper weight. My current phone can stream pandora for 8 hours on 4g with the internal speaker volume at max and still last another 4 hours.

My G3 has PMA charging built into the backplate, so no need for that goofy-looking round dongle. Hardly something to make or break a phone, but it is pretty neat to have. I just drop my phone onto my Powermat when I go to bed, and pick it up in the morning fully charged.
Also, that reminds me, I've been hearing about Starbucks putting Powermat charging into their stores for a while now (at least a year), but I have yet to actually see it in any of the locations I've been to around here. -
Someone explain how a frickin' Samsung phone on frickin' Verizon is getting Lollipop before my Moto X (2014) (or any Moto X besides the non-carrier-subsidized Pure Edition). What. The. Hell. Are we now in backwards land?
http://www.engadget.com/2015/02/02/verizon-galaxy-s5-lollipop-update/ -
Looks like a Lollipop, but in reality is an ugly pill.
(Cause that's how Sammy rolls nowadays) -
In all seriousness, part of the reason I went for the Moto X (2014) was timely updates, and I'm a little ticked off that we're now nearly three months after Motorola released Lollipop for the Moto X Pure Edition (mid-november 2014), and none of the carrier-subsidized Moto Xs have Lollipop or even a scheduled arrival date.
-
I wouldn't expect Moto to have timely updates for carrier models. That's why I went with HTC. HTC's updates are mostly independent of the carriers. HTC develops the updates and pushes them to the carriers, who do some of the testing, but HTC actually does the software coding.
-
Wait, are you sure about that? I updated my Verizon Moto X 2014 to Lollipop almost two months ago.

Damn, I thought it was all carriers, but it might just be US Cellular. Shame, because I like them on other issues.
I've contacted US Cellular on FB about the issue and their rep insists that they're waiting on Motorola, and that carrier testing hasn't begun yet and isn't the hold-up. Not sure if that's accurate or not...maybe it's not that US Cellular is slow, but instead that Motorola is ignoring US Cellular? -
I'm fairly sure the AT&T or Sprint Motos haven't received the update either. It really sucks. I was looking at the Droid Turbo, but it's still stuck on KitKat too.
-

My fiance's Moto G (1st gen, 4G LTE variant) bought unlocked hasn't received the 5.0 update yet either. It's still on 4.4.4
-
If it makes you feel better, my AT&T Note 4 is still on 4.4.4..

If anyone is still interested in the OnePlus One, they have announced that every Tuesday units will be available for sale for 24 hours to anyone with or without an invite.
Personally I find the device to be a bit too big and the camera not quite good enough, but it's a solid choice at that price point. -
Thanks from me as well

Did the OTA upgrade to android 5 on my nexus7 - runs terrible, bad lag, almost unusable. I should of googled the upgrade, lots of complaints. I ended up wiping it using wugfresh tool and installed CyanogenMod stable. Runs awesome now, like brand new. Great Rom.
-
Yeah, I just saw that US Cellular is starting their rollout of 5.0.2 for the Moto X (2014) tonight. Apparently they skipped prior versions of Lollipop entirely, going from 4.4.4 straight to 5.0.2.
-
Do you have a Nexus 7 '13? If so, surprised to hear that Lollipop's laggy on that hardware. CM is great though, I'm using it on my GS3 and my Nexus 7 '13 (and my brother's GS3 and my mom's Nexus 7 '12), all on CM11 Kit Kat.
-
no, mine is the original 2012 nexus7.

How soon after a carrier "starts to roll out" an update should you actually receive it? As per numerous media reports, US Cellular "started to roll out" 5.0 for the Moto X 2014 one week ago, but I still don't have it, despite checking "system updates" daily. Is this normal?
-
Anyone knows a good site to buy note 4 clone? OR any good cheap non brand android phone?
-
It is normal. I've seen updates for various devices take up to a month. If it were me though, I would wait a month after it comes out then read up on howardforums to see if people have any problems or complaints.
-
Try checking if you can get the update from Kies or whatever software Samsung uses these days.

I don't think Kies would carry the software update for the Moto X
-
What's your budget? Are you in the US?
-
Yes I'm in the US, my budget is around ~$100, $150 max, the reason I want a clone OR a cheap one is because I want to try stuffs on it and if I fail I can just restore it to factory setting

That's really prudent advice...but I was the impatient type, and installed it this afternoon as soon as it was available. It runs great, though I had to Google where to find screen rotation (accessibility? Really?). Love the new lock screen and notification shade and quick toggles. Performance seems smoother too, though that might be placebo effect.Primes likes this.

Decided to take the plunge and update my HTC M8 to 5.0.
The Good:
+Reworked pull down notifications. It looks way better than it did before...
+Good refresh to Sense 6.0. More streamlined.
+As typical after an update, the whole system runs lightning fast.
The Bad
:
-Xposed is currently not available for Android 5.0
(EDIT: Xposed is currently in Alpha for 5.0, but I'm not risking a bootloop
)
-Seems like Sprint's version has a lot of bloatware. At least, more than any of the other carriers...7 apps in all.
-No Xposed, no disabling of Sprint's notification icons...damn those things are ugly!
-No option to bypass the lockscreen and go straight to the security screen...? WTFH?!?!?!?!? -
That's my one real beef with Lollipop. I use gesture unlock, and it's gone from two movements to three to unlock (power button, swipe up, gesture, instead of just power button, gesture).
-
I'm thankful that I only use a pin to unlock. So I downloaded a app from the market that's a live wallpaper lockscreen. So I just set that to active and turn off the native lockscreen. I still have to swipe, but I can swipe anywhere on the screen instead of that miniature lock icon...damn thing's too tiny for my fat fingers.
Oh, I hope Xposed gets fixed for 5.0 soon.
-
I can swipe up anywhere on the center line on my Moto X 2014; don't have to swipe from the lock icon. I typically swipe upward from the exact center of the screen to unlock.
-
I can't on my M8. I have to actually press on the lock icon and swipe upwards. Soooo damn frustrating.
-
Wow, did all swearwords get unlocked with the new NBR? Only took them 9 years but I'm finally starting to like this place.booboo12 and Starlight5 like this.
-
Take that back...I had to uninstall the live wallpaper lockscreen app after it erased my home screens and made a bunch of new ones along with installing a whole load of bloatware.
Don't ruin it for the rest of us, Fowlmouth .Starlight5 likes this. -
