Question on my Samsung Galaxy Player 5.

I noticed recently that it started rebooting on its own randomly. Is there any way to figure out what is causing this? It will just be sitting there and then I hear the boot up tone and see the Samsung graphic. Quite annoying.

Nope, not rooted. Just been using it. Added some apps and games, but nothing in the last week or so since it's been happening. Just sitting on my desk and poof, it reboots.

Nice! Is your latency any better than the above pic? That's pretty bad latency...

I have that app. LOVE it. Use it all the time... but I bought the Pro version.

Random reboots are very hard to diagnose. Some apps can cause them, some hardware can be at fault, and a host of other things.

    Has it just started recently?

To coin a phrase... It really is a magical device. ©Apple Inc.

    Congrats! Galaxy Nexus?

I know right!! I use them on all my ROM's... well, the transition animations anyway. I haven't baked in the rotation animation.

Yes. Just a couple days ago, but haven't installed or am running any new apps.

Only thing I can think of is launcher pro + christmas HD background.

My searches resulted in a billion different possible culprits. Many people though seem to attribute their issue to a loose battery. Unfortunately my battery is sealed inside. And since it happens when just sitting untouched on my desk, I can't imagine that would be the case.

Hi guys recently purchased a LG Optimas LTE (LG Nitro) for some reason gameloft games don't work it says device not compatible  The thing is gameloft demos (Bloatware) work fine. Any insight would be greatly appreciated :D Also this is my first android phone coming from 3 generations of iPhones :)

Gameloft has to update their compatibility listings in the Android market. Since your device is new you may want to contact them to see if they can include support for your device model.

The other way is to root it and modify a bunch of stuff.

Gameloft uses a two layer approach. They have a device whitelist in the game files and also on the market. Even if the market says it's supported, the app may have to be updated to work.

Bloatware as in already on the phone? Those are different than what you get from the Market. Bloatware is tested and approved by AT&T, and if you get the Market version it usually supplements or replaces the version on the phone.

To get rid of the bloatware that you actually can uninstall go to Settings-->Applications and then the "All" tab. If your app is able to be removed it can be uninstalled there. Otherwise you'd have to root your device and remove them that way.

9 times out of 10, removing all your bloatware requires root.

The latency was very up and down when I tested, plenty of times of the Arc or Ray when I got those speeds it was much lower.
The faster speed on the Atrix came in at under 100ms.

Unfortunately, as my complaint with T-Mobile proceeds, the booster that gives me the higher speeds has been removed from my account.
Still, one way or another, it'll just be temporary.

I'm still confused as to what a "booster" is. In the US, you either are or are not provisioned for HSPA data.

Well a booster is something you add on to your basic tariff for an additional fee.

My tariff includes an internet booster in it's price but the booster I have has a ~2Mbps cap on it.
The way T-Mobile removed the cap was to add a second data booster to my account, one which has no cap. However they refuse to leave that second booster on there unless I 'pay' ( as much as I ever pay them) an extra £10 per month, which I think is unreasonable.

So, I'm taking the matter to an ADR service to try and force T-Mobile to provide me with uncapped speeds at no extra charge but, in the mean time, as I refused their offer of paying for the booster, it has been removed from my account again.

Basically, boosters are T-Mobile UK's name for data plans and different plans have different speed caps.

Of course! There is no better phone out there to spend hundreds of dollars on. ;)

I like it so far. The screen is humongous that it resembles a shrunken HD TV, Gmail widget is brilliant, the equalizer in music app is a huge thumbs-up, camera does take decent photos, and most importantly, it is blazing fast and smooth. I played with it until late last night, and I've already used near 1gb of data. :D

The only gripe is that the native YouTube and Netflix app don't support 720p, so I don't get to see its awesome display in action unless I upload my own HD videos on it or watch YouTube on browser. I've read that there are hacked versions of these apps: I might try them later.

By the way, GPS performs very well and it easily locks on satellites even indoors.

Such an odd place, the UK. If you pay for HSPA over here, there's really no way they can limit what speed you can pull down. They just limit you on how much data you can pull.

Supercurio has had some nice things to say about the sound so far... No CPU EM noise, no background hiss... all in all he's impressed about the TWL6040 so far.

    I might be interested... ;)

LOL. That was a carry over from Gingerbread. Most OEM Gingerbread versions didn't have it though... only the AOSP/Nexus/CM7 software did. I still don't understand why a company eliminates something so simple as a framework animation. Samsung, Motorola, and HTC all do it. I see no reason or purpose for them doing it.

You're not buying a speed over here, you're just buying an allowance.

To be honest, most networks don't cap their speeds unless you exceed your allowance ( and even then, most charge if you go over instead) - it only seems to be T-Mobile who have these caps.
Then again, T-Mobile are also the only network who never charge any customer for exceeding their usage if they have a data booster on their account and they're also the only network prepared to pay me to be their customer :D

Yeah i dont understand why they dont use it. Makes no sense. Unless its something about Google's policy and it only being used on AOSP. But I doubt it.

    Missed this...

SE left it out of 2.3.2 but it could be re-enabled by fiddling with the framework-res APK (IIRC), they added it in 2.3.3 and in 2.3.4 it's gone again but the old tweak no longer works :(

Ok, now I see. Those are both pretty damn important. LOL.

Thanks! I'll have to pick it apart and integrate it into a Note and Infuse ROM.

See, that I don't understand. Disable it, re-enable it, disable it again... I mean just leave it the hell alone. LOL. That animation doesn't break anything as it's hardly integral to any other part of the UI framework, and it's not really breaking any device software theme.

To be honest, even if CISAS rule against me and I have to pay the extra, I will. But the manner in which it's been handled is such that I'm going to take my complaint as far as possible.

So, my girlfriend is finding herself getting frustrated with her Intercept just like I did. Taking ten solid seconds to get from a messaging thread to the home screen just isn't acceptable. Anyway, god knows Virgin Mobile's options are pretty limited, and she wants a physical keyboard, which leaves the LG Optimus Slider as pretty much the only other option.

I know it's far from as good as my Triumph, but is it better than the Intercept? I don't want to spend $200 on a phone only to have her hate it just as much as her current one.

Simple question, but didn't know where else to put it. If I get an Android tablet or smartphone, can I simultaneously run Pandora and Kindle apps, so I can listen to music while I read? Sounds pretty straightforward, but I guess you can't do this in iOS unless you're using their own apps (iBooks and iTunes). I primarily get my music through Pandora nowadays, and all my books are through Kindle, so this doesn't work for me.

You can run both apps at the same time. If your phone is something crappy or old like a G1, Android may kill Pandora to save clock cycles/memory. With a recent phone/tablet you shouldn't have any problems.

    They're not playing with LTE.

This is why AT&T is all over it ATM. I was on one of their LTE deployment teams and this is the future.

Sadly for a lot of Americans too. LOL. The only buildout plans ATM, that were on the docket before I left, were the major metro areas. Past that, it'll be a WHILE before rural areas see LTE, in any form from AT&T. Verizon maybe, because they have a VERY aggressive rollout strategy.

    Ouch x2.

Oh yes, that's 100% possible. Basically any music app can play in the background while any app is in the foreground.

Just use the app switcher icon on the bottom for Honeycomb tablets to flip through open apps. :)

There's talk of it being 2015 before we get LTE over here :(

You have to hand it to them, first Android then LTE, they've judged the market very well and they've been pretty relentless about it.
