No love for iOS 5.0.1 on your iPhone 4? It's Jailbreakable... does it not work with the Gevey?

Nice! iOS 5 is seriously good. -
Yikes! Sn0wbreeze only does a tethered jailbreak for now.
Is iOS 5 that much better?
EDIT: I'm going to preserve the baseband with sn0wbreeze and jailbreak with redsn0w. -

IMO, it is. It brings a LOT of enhancements over iOS 4. -

my favorite apps - Sky Go. sky said it's not possible to make the 'Sky Go' app (you can watch all the sky sports and sky movies channels live on it for free (if you have a sky subscription at home)) for android because of inferior quality of the os so i couldn't have it on my HTC Desire earlier. i wanted it so much, and it's nice to have it now. it's really nice watching matches while on the bus or anywhere else really if you can't be in front of your t.v. The Guardian app is nice too.
my least favorite apps - Siri is useless and pointless for me. Instagram's pointless too for me, really. i just have it for some reason. Also, The Times and The Sunday Times app too, just more and more drivel from Murdoch and his cronies. it's just amusing to read the news on it and see what the stupids of the world are being fed. their magazine is ace, though. -
i'm about to buy this case for my iPhone 4S - OtterBox Defender Series Case for Apple iPhone 4S: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics
are there any cons i should know about, other than the weight/bulk bit?
thanks. -
Got anything to back that up?
-
I really enjoyed Rainbow Six. Most of Gameloft's games are decent. Call of Duty is fun.
I have one on my 4. Looking at it now, it collects a little lint, and the front camera hole gets a little grimy, but other than that stuff it great!
I almost bought a Lifeproof case since it's water proof. But, at $80(New, eBay) it's a little too expensive for me.

i've got scratches on the back of my iPhone 4S already, and i've dropped it a few times, thankfully on the carpet. i might as well get a cover and be safe.
-
Did you get AppleCare+ with it? It's $100 and extends the coverage 2 more year, plus it give you accidental coverage. I believe Apple will replace you phone for $50 with that plan. Pretty cool, I wish I could get it for my iPhone.

Doesn't exist in the UK.
-
I'm due for a upgrade with AT&T, debating white/black for 4S. My 3G was black and so was my 4.
-
I prefer black, white looks kinda old Macbook-ish.
There white iPhone is .2mm thicker: http://www.imore.com/2011/10/07/black-white-iphone-4s-color-choose/ -
the white iPhone looks a bit odd, not least because of the white boundary around the screen.
-
Yeah, I'll probably go with the black one.. White iPhone seems to be more of a girls phone IMO.
-
Whats a good photo app? Camera+ any good?
-
I have camera+(just installed it again). Here's a quick comparison:
Camera+
iPhone Stock Camera App
iPhone Stock Camera App + HDR Enabled
-
What is the difference supposed to be? It all looks the same.
-
That's what I thought after I uploaded them
-
Hahaha wow. Some of the comparison videos between the 4s and 4 camera is largely significant but the above picture invokes some doubt.
Waaah i must have feminine taste but i really like the look of the white iPhone 4. I had a white 3GS which was cool, when i was deciding which colour i asked my brother which one looks better he says black but now i feel regret hahaha.
I'm even considering trading/selling my iPhone 4 just to get the white one. Though i will be keeping it in a case so i guess its not that big of a deal. -
I find Siri very useful for setting up quick reminders. Just saying things like "when I get home, remind me to take chicken out of the freezer" or "when I leave work, remind me to go to the library" or "wake me up in 20 minutes" or "remind me to take my meds in 4 hours" to Siri is a lot quicker for me than manually setting them up.
-
+1
That's indeed one of the most useful features for me (and considering that some key features are still limited in Canada).
(hey Jane!) -
(hey, John! Long time, no see!)
-
i had to read it twice, i thought you posted "children".
yeah, it depends on the person how they like it. so far, i haven't found a use for it so far.
but when you say "when i leave for work, [....]", does it do that by using the GPS or by time or how? -
also, can you recommend any good flipboard magazines? i got it when it was first released, but then deleted it. but now i think i'll give it a second try. can you put Google Reader in it?
-
If you like Star Trek and want a flashlight app, I recommend Sci-Fi flashlight. It has the LCARS UI and gives you a few tricks to play with.
-
It's location based I think. -
if it is, then it's amazing! can i do that without Siri?
thanks. -
Yes, you can manually create a reminder that's location-based using entries from your contact list. I just find it easier to say it to Siri and let her create it than tapping through the Reminder app menus myself. Location-bases reminders are very helpful, and whichever creation method works best for you is great!
-
This thread motivated me to jailbreak my iPod Touch 2G. Now the only problem is that some of the apps I had were updated and now require iOS 5. Grrrr. Mint.com pisses me off the most.
I'm also going to overclock it soon once I get all my apps and everything setup. -
This is going slightly off-topic but I think you might appreciate this.

Here's a comparison of HDR mode on, off, and Camera+:

Me likey! Years ago I jail broke my old iPod touch and did something similar to that.
-
hi mate, you're well versed in android so i'm asking you, can you help me find 'Instagram' and 'Flipboard' on android, please? i'd like to keep the same apps on both my phones (the iPhones 4S and the HTC Desire) so that if for some reason i need to use my HTC Desire, i don't miss anything.
thanks. -
I don't think there's an Android version of FlipBoard.
-
do you use it? which are your favorite feeds?
-
Never heard of either of them, sorry.
If they're going to be anywhere, they'd be on the market: http://market.android.com -

Here is most of what I have on my iPod Touch (non games). I had more but once I got my Android phone I moved them over to that instead.
- Amazon Kindle and Student
- AppShopper (for finding free games)
- AppZapp (for finding free games)
- Evernote
- Flashcardlet
- Fooducate
- Google Plus, Shopper, Gmail
- Netflix
- News360
- Pulse
- Read It Later (Use it a lot)
- Reeder
- SideReel
- Skyscraper City Forums
- Stumbleupon
- Trailers
- Vevo
-
I do use it erratically. Hard to pick a favorite feed as I funnel FB, Twitter and Google Reader feeds into it.
-
I like how this turned into an Android thread.
Anyway, what sucks is that so many jailbroken apps are simply not working for me. I think it has to do with the old OS I'm running, but it can't be upgraded past 4.2.1. I'm really thinking about getting a 4g Touch. -
What's up with the 'White' iPhone hating. I love my white iPhone; even though I don't see much of it as I have it covered with a sweet black carbon fiber skin from slickwraps.
As for apps;
LiveProfile
Skype
Messenger
DocsToGo (Paid an arm and a leg for this)
TeamViewer
Dropbox (Works well with DocsToGo and vice versa)
Instagram (Just taking up space at this time as I hardly use it)
LightOMatic
Yelp
Remote (For controlling iTunes remotely) Best thing ever!
Pimp...Screen
TuneIn Radio, BigUpRadio, Stitcher
SoundHound (Don't really use)
iBooks, iStory (for the little one)

And a handful of Games..............

Question; Anyone can recommend a good program for transferring music etc from iPhone to computer. Was looking at a couple like ImToo, Xilisoft, iStonsoft etc. but would like to hear what some of you are using. -
Update!
I've been running iOS 5 since 12AM Saturday night(lol and I had an 8am test). I like it!
My Favorite Features:
Notification Menu
Find my iPhone
iCloud
It just looks cooler
I can read text messages while playing Rainbow Six -
Even though I am due for a upgrade, I think I am going to hold off as long as I can. My sister has a 3GS that she is willing to give me to use in the meantime. I just hate to upgrade now when I'm pretty sure the iPhone 5 will be here this coming fall.
