I think if you connect the device to a computer you can do the update from within itunes to get around the space issues.

You don't really get around it. iTunes backs up, wipes, upgrades, then restores. -

If someone sticks with the first OS they use because it works well for them and they know how to do what they need to do with it, they're not using it "purely for fad value." They're not changing what isn't broken.
Both iOS and OSX offer stable, easy-to-use setups that do everything your average user wants to do with minimal hassle. Other OSes can do "more" or do it "better," generally with longer learning curves attached, but for someone who doesn't want to invest the time in those longer learning curves, an Apple device may be the best tool for the job. Fads have nothing to do with it.Mr.Koala likes this. -

3 hours of talk, not long for a bluetooth 4 connection from the iWatch to an iPhone.

Two things you're forgetting:
1. No one (and I do mean no one) will use their smart watch as a headset for calls longer than a minute or risk looking like a dork by talking into their wrist for extended periods of time.
2. It's an Apple Watch. It's gold, it's shiny. iSheep won't care how much "talk time"they get outta it. -

It didn't stop people from using Google Glass (and being beaten up for it)... -
Nobody got beat up for looking like a dork. People got beat up because people associated Google Glass with surreptitious filming. The Apple Watch doesn't have this problem.
-
No, you're right. People wearing Google Glass got beat up for looking like dorks.
But ...
That won't happen with the Apple Watch.
No one will get beaten up for walking around talking into their Apple Watch.
Knight Rider said so!

That made me laugh, because in general it's a fair jab at Apple's history with repeatedly changing its proprietary chargers...but I have to tip my hat to them for being first out of the gate with the USB Type C charger, because (1) it's not proprietary (seriously, a non-proprietary Apple charger?) and (2) it actually does add utility over previous versions by being an all-purpose USB port instead of just a charging port.
We're about to enter a brave new world where you can use a single charger to charge an Apple laptop, an Android phone, and I'm sure soon a Windows laptop and an iPhone. That's gonna be pretty cool. -
I am VERY skeptical of this new USB 3.1-C standard. I've worked with electricity enough to know that the contacts on that type C plug (no matter how many there are) are not going to be able to carry 100W power thru them.
Second, how is this USB type C endeavor no different than the Intel/Apple thunderbolt one? The reason USB 3.0 won out over the thunderbolt port is because the 3.0 ports (type A) were backwards compatible with the 2.0 hardware and cables. Of course the type B ports and microUSB 3.0 ports were different, so you couldn't use a 2.0 type B or microUSB 3.0 cable on a 2.0 port. But vice versa, yes.
With the type C, we will have to get adapters to go backwards to our existing devices. And why would I want to buy a type C to HDMI adapter when the HDMI Forum will probably only allow for limited support of such an adapter? -
