So, I love alot of things in this report.
1. Apple because aware of this exploit on Sept 7? I commented on this somewhere here LONG before the 7th of Sept.
2. iOS is such a large "system" it will never be secure. LOVE that one to. Because privacy and all.

You should just create an "Apple / IOS Flaws" thread and edit the primary post with updates as they come along. A little easier to keep track of them all

I really thought iOS was secure and Apple never confirmed its affected! I thought itunes backup w/o password was the flaw.

@ Vasudev
I look at this way....
Apple = Marketing
Android = performance
They're both based on similar *nix kernel / apps but, you don't get the marketing BS of Apple w/ Android. Android is the "generic" vs "name brand" where you don't pay for the patent markup. Sire, there's a few obscure not so mentioned options like Windows / BlackBerry / etc. (see photo)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_operating_system
The problem with "Android" being the "generic" is you have all of these other "brands" using it and then slapping some different UI on it along with another name. For instance "Fire OS" from Amazon is basically just adding Alexa / some Amazon apps to Android. Oxygen OS = OnePlus w/ some tweaks to Android. The "UI" umbrella is just the same thing adding some branding to the base OS.
The advantage of Android is you have users providing patches / updates to secure things as they're discovered when you deviate from mainline releases i.e Cyanogen where they combine the best of branded / open source. I've used CM on other phones in the past and it was snappier than the OEM option and debloated from all of the tracking apps.
Untying the OS from the HW is where you can compare apples to apples. If you can take CM and put it on tons of different phones and then benchmark them you're going to get a clearer picture on how the HW performs. There are ways to "jail break" Apple's to turn them into Oranges and force them to work with different OS options.Vasudev likes this. -
Not worth jailbreaking anymore. I used to, but apple are such C&^%, the block you from doing that too. But back to the topic, they crow about security and how "safe and secure" their devices are, when in reality, they are not as safe as android.
Apple "patches" a security hole in iOS imessage.
