So the rumors were dead on.
For anyone wondering about the face if slip up, it looks like that phone had some how just been turned on, and requested the passcode before allowing face id like touch id does now.
I'd be somewhat surprised if it failed and timed out after like one unlock attempt while touch id gives several tries.hmscott likes this. -
Good lord the SOC improvements year after year are insane. Qualcomm and Samsung cannot keep up with this lol.
-
Ehhhh I love that they finally have OLED on a iphone but i'm personally going to sell my iphone 7 and downgrade to a 5s.

So basically the love child of a Galaxy S8+ and an Essential Phone running iOS. Got it.
Good for people who like Android hardware but like iOS (or need it for work). This phone seems to be all about hardware parity with Android flagships.katalin_2003, Vasudev and hmscott like this. -
anyone going for the X??
-
funny thing is, in EU iphone 8 is cheaper than iphone 7 on release.
-
Hardware parity? Android phones were left in the dust since the iPhone 6s SOC. I really hope Qualcomm, Samsung or any other chip maker can keep up with the A series chip. It sucks we are at the mercy of Qualcomm support ugh.
-
I gotta admit, the new iPhone X looks great, but its not enough to make me want to switch to the iOS ecosystem.
-
In not talking solely about SOC benchmarks, or hell, benchmarks at all. Look at the context of my post. I'm talking about screen tech, pixel density, screen to bezel ratio, wireless charging, etc. THAT sort of hardware parity.Vasudev likes this.

Yeah, i really want to get the iPhone X, but the lack of a jailbreak ( at least until 3-4 months after release, and im being optimistic) , is whats got me on the sidelines for now. I really like the Note 8 as well, but the locked bootloader is a load of BS. The new pixels will be announced soon, but they just might be too simple for my taste. Time will tell i guess.
-
Will iphone X ditch selfie flash and use real front camera with flash?
At last, control center can be accessed by swiping down on iphone. I thought it was a retarded feature on iphone that swiping upwards for control center. Absolutely hated the current control center in iOS 10.3.x. I gave it to my mom.
They could have opted for OLED screens earlier, I think Apple will drop Light Theme on iph X and switch to Dark mode. -
Sounds like you need a Clevo like iPhone with Prema firmware to OC CPU and GPU on water cooling with custom OS like Silent Phone or even @Phoenix Super Tweaked iOS or @Mr. Fox no non-sense iOS optimised for OC'ing the hell out of A11 CPU to break WR.
Wait few months for user reviews and buy Note 8 or iphone 8 or weapon/iphone X. -
Neah, i make own kernel tweaks
Wouldnt mind a Prema mod kernel though.Vasudev likes this. -
The lack of a fingerprint reader might be a dealbreaker for me even if I wanted an iPhone. There area lot of situations where I want to unlock my phone and it's nor pointed toward my face for the face unlock to work (pulling out of a pocket, resting on a desk).Vasudev and Spartan@HIDevolution like this.

Apple Wants Your Money! The Company Goes Crazy with Price Jumps Across the Board
http://wccftech.com/apple-going-crazy-pricing-2017/
"Apple is apparently going all out this year – not as much in terms of new features as it is with the price hikes. After raising the prices of its iPhones, we reported that the iPads too will now be sold for an extra $50.
But, that is not all. The Cupertino tech giant is also increasing its repair and replacement prices for its iPhones, making things even more expensive.
The company has not only raised AppleCare+ prices for its newly released iPhone X and the iPhone Plus models, it has also changed its service repair charges."
Milk them suckers Apple

I have a bad vibe about iphone X, it looks similar to Fail ( X).

The price increase according to Apple is because of nand memory price increase.

it is a Big step to go from Android to IOS. Still deciding if I want to stay with IPhones...
-
Apple negociates long term contracts that aren't affected by spot price hikes, Apple is likely getting discounts as the quantity used increases. I doubt seriously Apple is simply passing on NAND price increases - especially for the Apple Service price increases
-
The apple subredit are circle-jerking claiming the A series matches an intel chip in performance by using Geekbench results lmao. They are comparing a 5W? ARM chip against the big boys lol. Hell the intel i7 45W bga would obliterate the A11 chip into pieces. I3 probably too destroys it lmao.

Cracker Barrel vs. iphone X
fishz, ronaldheld, Papusan and 3 others like this. -
Hell, even my BGA finds it hard to maintain turbo clocks for sustained periods and well below rated TDP 45W. I imagine iPhone CPU maxes out 2-3W.
They could have introduced MSFT's continuum based phone that can handle full blown MS Office apps and Adobe PS and the price of 999$ would be justified. Otherwise its no use.hmscott likes this. -
The price didn't bother me. There IS a market for phones this expensive (says the guy using a Samsung flagship), even if not everybody in this forum is in that particular market.
That said, the Cracker Barrel image made me laugh.Last edited: Sep 14, 2017 -

Any tweaks to increase the battery life on apple apart from turning off background refresh and location service cause I did that.

And BGA that should be so energy efficient. The reason they put it in Jokebooks

The first day or two I know battery suffers, there is indexing going on in the background. Do not disable Background Refresh, it has no effect. Background refresh is not 24/7 background sync like Android.

Apple iPhone X A11 Bionic 6-Core CPU Crushes All Android Challengers In Benchmark Leak
https://hothardware.com/news/apple-a11-bionic-processor-crushes-challengers-benchmark-leak
"Each generation of iPhone brings with it a custom system-on-chip (SoC) with an impressive amount of power, and Apple is keeping that tradition with the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X (pronounced iPhone 10). Each of those handsets sports a custom A11 Bionic processor with six cores of computing muscle—four high performance cores and two power efficiency cores. If early leaked benchmarks are any indication, the A11 Bionic is going to set some records.
The A11 Bionic is reportedly built on a 10-nanometer FinFET process. We suspect the two power efficiency cores will perform the bulk medial chores to maintain battery life, which Apple says will be 2 hours longer than the iPhone 7. But for heavy lifting, the chip is capable of not only firing up its four high performance cores, it can tap all six cores simultaneously. Combined with a burly GPU, the A11 Bionic looks like a fierce chip."
"A set of Geekbench scores reinforces that notion. Just prior to Apple announcing its newest iPhone models, Geekbench's database was updated with a new entry for an "iPhone 10,5" which we assume to be the iPhone X. In single-core performance, the phone scored 4,061 points, and nearly hit 10,000 points ( 9,959, to be exact) in multi-core performance, as seen above.
Those are spectacular scores. To put them into perspective, Samsung's Galaxy S8+ scored 1,845 points in single-core performance and 6,333 points in multi-core performance when we benchmarked the handset. Both phones are powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 SoC.
Here is a look at how other phones have fared in Geekbench, versus these new iPhone X-powered scores:
"That's what you call a beat-down...
The iPhone X is top-tier device with some advanced features, such as Face ID (facial recognition) and augmented reality capabilities. Apple needed to use a burly chip to power the phone's capabilities, and while a single leaked benchmark is hardly a definitive sample size, it appears the A11 Bionic will be up to the task." -
SamDung? Really? Makes you sound five years old, just like "Crapple" does. These are both multinational consumer products manufacturers, not football teams.
As for screen size, the iPhone X is very comparable to the Galaxy S8 (5.8" at just over 2:1 aspect ratio). The 5.1" screen of the S6 sounds a lot smaller, but since it's a very different aspect ratio (1.78:1), you can't do a direct comparison. It would not surprise me to find out that the S6 has similar screen area as the iPhone X.
The main point of that image is that the "new" hardware features of the iPhone X have been in the Android world for a year or two. They're new to iOS but not new to smartphones. This would not be as big of a deal to people if Apple was not so quick to sue other companies, especially Samsung, basically claiming that Samsung "stole" ideas that Apple allegedly dreamed up out of the ether with no prior art whatsoever. -
Apple has always had a beast of an SoC in its phones. No doubt. And it doesn't surprise me that the A11 Bionic is the best yet despite the dumb name. But I personally prefer Android because of the flexibility of the OS and the hardware features, not because of raw SoC performance, so that's not going to change my mind.
-
I don't believe a thing about benchmark on tabs and phone. If those CPU top the list, they I mean Apple should have added the feature of running a full blown Mac OS X on those phones and iPad/Tablet then paying $1000 is fair, otherwise any decent mid range or yesteryear flagship would do the job for me instead of donating $1000 on a phone which is a phone and not a PC.
