I am still using a Blackberry phone and i would prefer to stay with them. I prefer to have the option of a physical keyboard and touchscreen. I am using a Blackberry Q10 at the moment and have been since 2014. I am likely going to have to upgrade soon as Whatsapp will stop supporting Blackberry 10 OS at the end of the year. I prefer the look and colour options of the Blackberry Passport over the Blackberry Priv, but the Passport doesn't as of yet come with Android OS. The Blackberry Priv is discounted by Blackberry right now and it is one of the last phones that Blackberry will make, which both makes this attractive to me to buy. I also don't really want to buy something and then something i prefer come out shortly after. There are rumours of new phones, and i'm not sure if i should sit and wait for a bit to see what will happen with software updates/new phones. I am happy with the Q10, the camera isn't brilliant and it is the lack of Whatsapp support that will force me to upgrade.
I like the robustness of my Q10, my Q10 has dropped a few times and my screen has never shattered. I don't know what to expect with the current Android Blackberry's in terms of robustness. The Priv i am concerned may not be robust enough for me. Does anybody have any information about what we can expect from "Blackberry" in the coming future? -
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
As far as I know BB will now outsource their phone design and production, similar like they did with DTEK50.
It's a really sad situation for us consumers, who don't want Apple or Android phones... -
Starlight5 Yes, I'm a cat. What else is there to say, really?
Would like to get myself a Priv, since it's the most powerful QWERTY slider as of now - but for a number of reasons I require root and CM, and Priv modders fail to deliver, yet. )'=

@Rachel
Read this before you get a PRIV, it's a great phone spoiled by BlackBerry's own apps taking over the normal operation of the phone: Contacts problem with PRIV (this was a show stopper for me)Starlight5 likes this. -

@Phoenix thank you. CM (CyanogenMod) would solve this and all other issues, well, because it's CM - much better and safer than messing with original ROM. But no CM (or other unofficial ROMs) = no deal.

And don't expect a custom ROM for Priv will come at all, just think about the PlayBook released half a decade ago, till now there's still not a single Android ROM for it.
That's a very sad thing, especially when the other well-known orphaned tablet, HP Touchpad, has got a myriad of ROMs available ever since HP released the sources, hell you can even run Android 7.0 on this archaic piece of hardware.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

No no no... you misunderstood my words, I'm referring to Motorola that Nillhat-san asked.
If BB is bought by Chinese then it's really bad, remember the Spywaregate that happened on Lenovo laptops and Redmi Note?
That said, I'm still using Opera even after it's been bought by a Chinese company.Tinderbox (UK) likes this. -
This exactly.
BlackBerry doesn't MAKE their phones no more, they build them and outsource the actual building process of them.
What this exactly means is still a bit unclear to the public, but should at all means not distort the software (which BlackBerry really is kept alive for) intact.
Another thing to note, BlackBerry has not been purchased by anyone. As clarified by @OverTallman
Last but not least, BlackBerry seems to be interested in going further with the Android market, it seems to be going... decent. Now whether it is working or not, I am a bit unclear about as I am waiting for the newest Q4 results from them.
But hey, their customization of the Android system is supreme and tries to take the best from BB10
Also their DTEk60 is awesome (but costs a fortune lol)

I loved the Passport, but gave it up after a year because I missed Google Voice and other android apps. If they released a Passport with Android I'd be all over it.
