Zombie Gunship
Then there is few Contract Killer games and zombie variants from same maker. They are fine but suffer greatly when you hit paywall and need to buy better gear with real money to proceed. Or I'm just that bad player
-
I stopped playing android games... man they rack up quick with IAP and I'm an impulse guy...
-
Those shooters I mentioned, I just uninstalled them when I hit the wall. I think only the oldest Contract Killer is playable without paying.
I actually have paid version of Zombie Gunship on IOS. It's one of those games that should be available on PC too. -
It depends on what type of game(s) you like. I'll list out a few of the ones that I'm paying at the moment, in the different categories that I like. I commute to work each day on a train, so I have lots of time to sit and play games on my phone.
Board Games / Strategy Games
Plague, Inc ( link) - Strategy / RPG game where you take on the role of a disease trying to wipe out the world.
Pandemic ( link) - Translation from the board game. Strategy and resource deployment. Co-op game where you take on the role of researchers trying to cure the world of a disease, in time.
Ticket to Ride ( link) - Translation from board game. Strategy and resource deployment. Absolutely fantastic if you like strategy / board games.
Hearthstone ( link) - Mobile version of the highly-addictive CCG from Blizzard.
Action Games
Implosion ( link) - Console-quality 3rd person action game. Absolutely fantastic game play, mechanics, RPG elements, cutscenes, sound, etc. Worth every single penny.
Dungeon Quest ( link) - 3rd person isometric Action RPG. Basically a (excellent) Torchlight clone for Android.
Strategy Games
X-Com: Enemy Within ( link) - The mobile version of the (awesome) PC game. You control a squad of soldiers fighting off an alien invasion of earth. Stratgy, base-building, RPG, resource-management, roguelike. Awesome. -
If you like classic arcade racers like Outrun, Final Freeway 2R is an awesome clone
-
Have you guys played with Amazon Underground? I dislike the privacy invasion but I have so much of that already that its just meh... Some of these games are pretty high quality. I'm playing Mickey Mouse's Castle of Illusion right now which normally sells for 10 bucks for free. This game brings back some serious childhood memories from the original from the NES. Even a lot of slot games are on here... The IAP is completely free but some of them have time limits between purchases. Still though, its a neat concept...
I have 395 apps I got from the old free app of the day Amazon store lol. -
I hate hate hate in-app purchases, so the following either don't have them or you aren't hamstrung by refusing to do them.
Banner Saga (tactical RPG)--great atmosphere, great gameplay.
Leo's Fortune (platformer)--the best mobile platformer. Ever.
Kingdom Rush trilogy--tower defense at its finest, with a good sense of humor too.
Monument Valley--a brain-twisting puzzler with an incredible art style.
Bejeweled--what matching games look like when they DON'T milk you for in-app purchases.katinku likes this. -
Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions is one of the most creative, engaging, and fun twin-stick shooters I've ever played. Level design is remarkably varied and always keeps you on your toes. It costs $10 up-front, but there's no microtransactions after that, and thus the pacing of leveling/progression isn't deliberately slowed to force you to use microtransactions.
-
Hehe, all I play now is Clash of Clans. Devil's Attorney is great though, and funny. Ittle Dew is also pretty fun, but I never managed to finish it, I don't think.
-
I started playing Game of War... I shouldn't have. Lol.
-
I like plants vs. zombies. Never play pz2 though. Microtransactions are getting aggressive and it's just not as nice as 1

Heavy gaming will damage the battery as the battery will get hot, and heat damages the battery.
Is it possible to game while plugged into the charger so the battery is not being used.

There is a game called "Flow" which you have to draw lines through a grid from one color to another color in the least number of moves possible.
It is a good time killer. -

You guys need to try The Room, The Room Two and The Room Three.

Android has many awsome ports thanks to the variants of Nvidia's Shield platform. I've owned the Tablet, wanted the console, skipped the Portable, but these days I'd probably pick up the portable. Final Fantasy, Tomb Raider, Trine 2, Borderlands PreSequel, FarCry 2, Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Batman Arkham Origins, Mortal Kombat X, Hearthstone, Terraria, Family Guy The Quest for Stuff, the Walking Dead, and Star Wars The Old Republic are my faves.
-
I have both since I dabbled in writing software for Android. As a Dev platform , Shield TV is great. As a consumer device, I don't see, yet, any compelling feature the Console gives me over the Tablet. I can plug my shield Tablet into hdmi port and have a mini console when I'm in hotel room or on travel, or when on-the-go the tablet has its own screen.
On the other hand, the Shield TV cannot be played "on the go" (doesn't have it's own screen/battery).
As a micro console the Shield TV is great, if you can have both or move other family members onto the TV console while you use the Tablet. If you have to chose only one, or live alone, then IMO amongst the two, the Shield TV is eclipsed by using the Tablet w/ hdmi cable in that role.
A buddy of mine has the portable, IMO skip it. Use Tablet + it's Game Controller instead. The portable seems to have been "left behind", OS not updated, etc.
For most Android devices in general:
^ This. I missed the SW-KOTOR when it first came out, but am rediscovering it now. It's like a portable version of Mass Effect.
I played Monument Valley on my last airplane flight, it is a great game beautiful graphics and very ingenious puzzle concept. Absolute genius.
"Bard's tale" is humorous, but maybe not for little kids (not really dirty, but it's like Cable TV kind of jokes).
I also like the Retro games that have been released on Android.
Square has the Final Fantasy series and Secret of Mana on Android. They are a bit pricey (for an android game) but go on sale occasionally for 50%.
I really into the Secret of Mana game on shield Tablet right now.
(Btw, Have you seen what an actual SNES "Secret of Mana" game cartridge sells for on eBay? Ouch, wish I had kept mine from when I was a kid. Thankfully mobile gaming is reviving alot of older titles).
For the Nvidia Shield:
If you want (older) PC quality or Console quality games , with Nvidia Shield + the game controller you can play Doom 3, Half Life 2, Talos Principle, etc.Last edited: Mar 26, 2016 -
The console has the x1 instead of the k1, and in my opinion is much better than anything else like the Ouya. I know all of those games you listed I just forgot to list them. I would enjoy the console but I don't have a TV right now, so no console of any kind. I have some monitors that would do the job I guess, barely. The only reason I didn't buy it it because I would have to start buying new games on Play and stuff, and I already have a big enough library on Steam. I like the tablet since you can prop it up and play it on a desk, that's the only way I played it, with the controller (which I also used on PC). I also have a microUSB to VGA adapter I used.
As far as tablets I pretty much favor only 2 right now, the Shield, and the ASUS Zenpad S with the Atom and 32gb storage. I've yet to buy one though. -
Not to date myself, but the Room looks kinda like Myst. Is that the sort of game it is?
-
on Ebay would be best bet, new condition Secret of Mana, a lucky or reasonable price would be $40 - $50 I wish I still owned a SNES.

TPT is now in android!
I recommend using stylus. The button is soooo small! -
Angel Stone is amazing. It's for iOS, Android, and PC. Free to play with a TON of free game currency and even has a coop mode that matches you with other players for awesome gear. It's very much like a fast paced Diablo. I just spent the last hour and a half playing it on my iPad and I can't tell you how hard it was to stop. If I didn't have to sleep, I'd have not stopped. Definitely worth checking out!
-
Not sure of any apps, but you could root the phone and rip out any apps you don't want them messing with. There may be some user restrictions you could implement by making a separate account, but I am unsure of this since I don't use this feature.
I found the Walking Dead series pretty cool. Some of the 3rd person shooters like Dead Trigger 2 are awesome. I would definitely try out COD, and if you want to get a little crazy with it, you can look up how to install Portal or Counter-Strike!Last edited by a moderator: Jun 8, 2016 -
Playing Dead Space currently on android. Have to say, the game is amazing (for a touch screen mobile game)! It is essentially a full-featured 7-hour Dead Space campaign. Unfortunately, controllers do not work with this, and will not run on Android 5+. So I'm playing it on my old phone. Also.... EA has taken it down from the Play Store a while back, so you have to find the APK online through other means.... but honestly totally worth a playthrough if you love the series. Currently 3 hours in.
-
I'm totally addicted to Evil Apples. It's kind of like Cards Against Humanity but MMO style. Android and iOS both and while it does have in app purchases, they are totally optional. You win all the in game currency pretty easily.

Sometimes play runner games like temple run or subway surf.
Nice game was also The walking dead, if you have time (it took me 5 hours to complete it). -
Pokémon Go is out for iOS and Android... I got lost trying to go get the mail catching Pokémon lol.

Watch your step while playing Pokemon!
Anyone plays Puzzle and Dragons? -
I used to but it got old. Money money money... Or wait for an event and pray you get good gacha... Too much re-rolling whenever there's an event. Although admittedly its not as bad as Brave Frontier or Final Fantasy Brave Exvius......
-
It's kind of black hole for your wallet. I try to save every magic stone from the events and wait for the god fest. But it's really fun with new monsters and leader skills. The new cooperative mode is very useful when you are playing with your buddy.Ethrem likes this.

All of these mobile games are just wallet killers. They're fun games but like for example with Brave Frontier and Brave Exvius, you have less than a 1% chance of getting a 5* character... Means re-rolling forever plus spending a lot of cash when they have the special units come out. House always wins...
At least Puzzle and Dragons you might get the hero you want after 25 re-rolls. lol -
For those that like to go sideways, Colin McRae Rally is currently 95% off on the Play Store.

It`s been ages since i played an android game, but i use to like those games where you build towers along a complex route and then the enemy attacks and they try and get to the exit though your towers are you shoot at them, I like the sci-fi lasers, tesla plasma type gun towers
What do i need to search for to find these games again?
John. -
Search for a game called sentinel. I think they are up to multiple versions now.
If that game isn't exactly what you like, there will be a "Games like this" section further down the Google Play Store listing for that.
If you just wanted to do a naked search, look for "sci fi tower defense"
