Hello everyone -
I'm not sure if you guys know, but I'm a gigantic HTC fan, having used their devices since 2011: my list includes:
All in all, HTC has been the pioneer in the Android world - dual cameras, machined metal unibody, powerful sound, lightweight skin (especially from Sense 5), and wonderful new ideas.
- Sensation XE (incredible sound, even more incredible build quality for a phone from 2011 - I dropped it several times on the floor, and absolutely nothing happened)
- One X (great camera, and Sense 4 was a refreshing experience)
- One X+ (came with an even better camera)
- One (M7) (Sense 5 was icing on the cake; the phone ran like butter, and its UltraPixel camera was a good idea, not to mention front-facing speakers)
- One (M8) (What I believe to be HTC's pinnacle of design - the phone literally flows into my hand, fits there perfectly; the machined aluminium back was a premium when Samsung still sold its terrible, Band-Aid Galaxy S5)
The problem is that HTC failed to successfully develop on and market them after 2013 - which led to its downfall, and LG's, Huawei's, Xiaomi's and worst of all, Samsung's rise. I'm not a fan (that's putting it mildly and politely) of Samsung and LG phones after having used their earlier devices which were all plasticky, cheap, fragile and had slow, laggy custom skins when HTC made beautiful, powerful and smooth phones.
Now, I genuinely believe that HTC is on its way back, to make a massive bang with its HTC One M10. Below are their official teases for the smartphone, beginning with the chamfered back edge:

Now, for the cameras, which are 'World First, World Class':

Finally, for the 'new boom: you'll hear it':

And last of all, their invite to the online-only release:

I have one last, small comment to make about BoomSound - looks like we indeed are getting stereo speakers. The top row of circles in the Audio tease appears to be an ultra-close-up view of the earpiece speaker grille, which HTC has apparently combined with the speakers. The bottom five pill-shaped holes are apparently going to be the bottom-facing speakers, seen in this leaked render:

So we get a bit of a compromise.
To conclude: I hope HTC really has a winner here.

Great company that deserves success!
My first HTC was the 'Typhoon' in 2004, re-branded in Dubai by 'i-mate' as the 'SP3'...man I flashed more Mods to that phone than to my Clevo's.
Only bought HTC's ever since...'Typhoon' (2004) > 'TYTN II' (2007) > 'Desire' (2010) > "ONE" (2013)...
You can see my 3 year cycle?! So the "10" (2016) seems promising...
Also really looking forward to the 'VIVE' myself...need to get my good old (non-optimus!!!) P170HM3 fixed and modded so it can push some pixels 'Maxwell style'!

Like similar promises from Motorola, I'll believe it when I see it. In recent years they've really lagged Samsung, Apple, and LG in the camera department.

This will be my next phone. HTC is going against the grain and will be supporting development as they always have (they are actually selling the carrier unlocked version on their site shipped with an unlocked bootloader out of the box) which means for people like myself who always want to be on the latest software, need root, and love custom roms, this is the only Snapdragon 820 device that will work on T-Mobile that does not come with Qualcomm secure boot and dm-verity out of the box.
They sent me a coupon to get it for 599 but I think I will wait until T-Mobile gets it so I can just use Jump.
Going from my Note 5 to the 10 is going to take some adjustment but I'm sick of being stuck with 32GB of storage so I suppose I can shed the S-Pen and half an inch of screen.Prema, Starlight5, Ionising_Radiation and 1 other person like this. -

Is It Always 10:08 at HTC?

Save $100 on your HTC 10 pre-order with htc1008 promo-code

"We hope you haven’t pre-ordered the HTC 10 yet, as HTC has just announced its HTC1008 promotional code which will get you a $100 discount on the new phone. At $699, the HTC 10 matches the price of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG G5. But at $599, an unlocked HTC 10 is certainly appealing.
Let’s also not forget that HTC One M9 customers are also eligible for an additional $100 rebate from HTC if they have owned their phone for 12 months and have not needed to use their Uh-Oh protection plan that came free with the phone.
Happy shopping!"Last edited: Apr 12, 2016Ionising_Radiation likes this. -

Meh, all of these cool discounts aren't available in the SEA region. The Uh-Oh warranty isn't available here as well.
I'll probably get the 10 with a carrier contract (S$40 a month, about US$30) for about S$500, US$370 approximately. Lucky all phones sold in Singapore are carrier unlocked by law, and all carrier apps are completely removable.
In my eyes, the HTC 10 is a winner. Excellent camera, great speakers, excellent software, and HTC's trademark metal build.
