The other day I was at AXIOM Telecom, one of the major retailers for phones here in Dubai and there was a customer complaining that his Galaxy S7 is not working anymore, he took a photo underwater with his S7, then the phone was working for 30 minutes then it just turned off and they were refusing the warranty claim. I was thinking, what a muppet, the phone is water resistant but that doesn't mean you go Scuba diving with it and taking photos under water. It's meant as a safety measure not to be used as an aqua photo camera

Samsung seems to have failed in the waterproofing of the S7, maybe the water got in the headphone socket

Pretty sure the iPhones aren't even really meant to be submerged at all. When something is waterproofed its certified to survive at a certain depth. Water resistant means it should survive being in the rain, and probably not liable if it breaks from that, but if you put it in like a bath, it will probably break and that's your fault.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this.

Apple says the iPhone 7 meets the IP67 standard, which is supposed to mean that it's "Protected against the effect of immersion between 15cm and 1m". In the company's announcement of this device, it was made fairly clear that this means people shouldn't worry about being accidentally knocked into the pool, not that they should go swimming with their phone.
This compares to the next-generation iWatch -- Apple spent a lot time yesterday touting this gadget's waterproof features and encouraging people to wear it while swimming.

Yeah I just read that, I had been looking for certification and couldn't find any. So yeah it should survive some shallow submersion. Great article!

So you mean one could actually swim with the iWatch and take it to the Aqua park?? -
How waterproof are the iPhone 7, Samsung Galaxy S7 and smartwatches?
