Indeed man, the Huawei P30 Pro was one of the best phones that I owned this year and Huawei does have some great hardware but without Google apps/services, it'd be as good as a brick. -
They do! I purchased a year ago on a recommendation the Huawei Mate SE. What a fabulous phone and it was $219 at the time of purchase. It looks and feels like an iPhone 8 Plus, it even has the same space grey color of the iPhones. It even came with a free clear silicon case that over a year later has not yellowed.
It's a dual sim phone, unlocked, works on both bands GSM and CDMA. The screen is 5.9" FHD+, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It even has built-in FM Radio and the sound quality is superb when pairing them with the Aukey B80 wireless earphones. The Huawei launcher is nice although I do prefer straight Android but it's useable.
I also can't see how any Huawei phone will sell in the West without Google apps. In fact that's the reason why I don't bother and have never bought an iPhone because all the Apps I use are Google apps. Google Maps, Keep, Calendar, Contacts, Phone App, Message App are all first rate. I was able to side-load the Google Phone app onto the Huawei phone although some features don't work like the spam filter.Vasudev and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -
There was some rumor Huawei may come up with some way of side-loading Google apps, or maybe they make last minute deal with Google. They still should have exemption, so I'm surprised Google refused them license, probably don't want to piss the regime. BTW as far as I now all Qualcom CPU's have FM radio built in, not only Huawei, all you need is proper connection on motherboard and headphone jack for antenna. It's Samsung Exynos that usually doesn't have FM radio. There was some talk in US to make FM radio mandatory, in case of emergency for example after hurricane (I'm sure people in Bahamas could appreciate it now) , but probably Apple bribed some politicians to stop it.

Now that we know the details, the more I think about Huawei predicament, the more I believe this whole fiasco will hurt Google and the more Google is trying to copy and follow Apple the more I'm thinking we need new players. With unlocked bootloader and freedom to install whatever I want, I'm seriously considering buying Huawei phone in the future.

I thought they reached an agreement? Great devices, politics aside.
