why not a 855 processor?

@ronaldheld for smaller companies, it is nearly impossible to source latest&greatest from Qualcomm directly. SD835 is still better than SD675 or SD710, so OK in my book.

That's cool. Everyone was going for thin thin thin, now everyone is moving to functional. Anorexic devices are moving away for functional devices. You can barely hang on to an iPhone now without a case to give it some girth.

The actual Pixel 2 XL w/ physical keyboard. Is it US/UK only?

@Vasudev it depends on what exactly do you mean by that question:
1. Bands - depend on your carrier.
2. Keyboard - there most likely will be alternative keyboard layouts later, though it is yet too early to tell which and when.
3. Availability - it will be available on manufacturer website, and will ship worldwide. -
Bands are okay, SD 835 has native support for TDD 40.
I think bigger question is lack of repair options. SD835 is pretty good and I'm still happy with SD 4xx chips as well.Starlight5 likes this. -

Yes, one will probably have to either send the device back, or order the parts directly from manufacturer and wait for them to arrive.
Still, I really like the idea. I currently have Gemini PDA and a traditional XIaomi smartphone, the latter being used as camera. Gemini (and Cosmo sharing the same design) is very bad for use in portrait mode, and is also noticeably harder to use on the go because it basically requires two hands to operate. The sliding hinge design Pro1 shares with old sliders like Motorolas and Nokia N900 is more versatile in this regard, using Pro1 as a single device will definitely be much easier than competing Cosmo. Also, since it's SD835 (vs MTK on Cosmo), one will 99% be able to install Google HDR+ camera port for better photos.
On the other hand, Gemini/Cosmo are known to have great typing experience and very good customer support, while Pro1 is an unknown quantity in this regard.Last edited: Mar 8, 2019Vasudev likes this.
