I'm so sick of marshmallow... It was somewhat okay that the system partition was locked on my Nexus 6 because I dealt with that before with HTC - use BusyBox On Rails and flash in TWRP... But my alarms haven't been going off, I've tried two different apps for that, my phone is actually lagging and duplicating text MORE than it already was (seriously, I've said it before and I'll say it again - BlackBerry and even DANGER (Sidekick) had this down for years and years Google, get with the times and fix it!), and while my battery life was great because of the new doze feature... What good is battery life when your alarms don't go off? Two different apps, same issue. Fail Google... just ... FAIL... I am in the process as I type of going back to Lollipop... Anyone else having issues? Locking the system partition makes me remember what happened when I got a warranty exchange on an old HTC that had a new hboot that nobody could S-OFF... Flashing things to the system partition is fine... except a lot of root apps write there too! Such a fail!

Yeah so I went back to 5.1.1... As usual, Google broke important things in Marshmallow... if you haven't updated, wait until they iron it all out...
I use Titanium Backup... I've used it as long as I can remember because I don't want my Battle.net or my Google Authenticator in the cloud and I have a lot of apps that I got through AppGratis that were special uploads by the developers just for a day or two... I can't afford to lose them... Marshmallow made me mad even restoring apps because Battle.net and Google Authenticator would hang on the restore... then finish when I went to the Play Store and installed them. Marshmallow blocks access to the system partition which does increase security overall but it makes it a real hassle when you're trying to restore your device like I did earlier. Do I get OTAs? No but I have a custom recovery that I can use to pick a ROM that has that OTA or the option to backup my TiBu folder and copy it over to the new version. Google is going full on Apple and I don't like it at all. Every single app restored without a problem to LYZ48K (since I have T-Mobile and I'm in the basement and need WiFi calling occasionally) yet Marshmallow... what a mess. Thanks for going HTC on us Google.i_pk_pjers_i likes this. -

Whenever you upgrade an OS it is recommended that you backup your data then turn off your phone and boot ito the advanced mode by holding the VOL up + Home Key and then pressing power, then clear cache partition, then do a factory reset, then clear cache partition again and reboot
now when setting up your phone, do not restore from a backup, setup as new device and you should not have such issues as I didn't see anyone reporting this on the Android Central forums.
Since you singed in with your Google account, all your contacts should be there so it's just a matter of restoring your apps from the App Store and then copying your files manually which you have backed up.\
I would give it another go but I can't, I wish I can upgrade to Marshmallow but as we know Samsung will probably only release it for the Galaxy S6 edge+ in March 2016 which by then I would have probably gotten bored of my phone and changed it
I want Marshmallow so bad just for the Doze mode man -

The ability to treat external memory as internal has my interest peaked, as my Tab S1 only has 16GB , But stability is my number 1 priority, I am still on kitkat as lollipop is not worth the bugs for the features you do not get.

I have dealt with Android since the second Android phone, the HTC Hero, came out on Sprint... Since going back to Lollipop, I haven't had a single glitch. These were factory images that I then rooted... its DOZE that is the problem in the first place... Not only that, it messed up my Google Authenticator (HUGE nono) because it lost track of time. Google rushed Marshmallow, you're really not missing anything except headaches...Spartan@HIDevolution likes this.

I see, thanks for this, I guess maybe this is why Samsung takes their time and are usually the last manufacturer to update heh? LG is already rolling out Marshmallow I think and so is Motorola. Guess I'm not missing on anything according to you if it's one unpolished OS, sorta reminds me of Windows 10, beta OS released as final.Ethrem likes this. -
Samsung is just lazy... Don't ever give them credit for anything else. I'm sure that leaks have surfaced... If they haven't, when they do you're looking at 2 months for an Asian release you can use Keyes to install.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this.

I hear you, this Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ is my last phone from Samsung. They are always late to the party and the Note 5 and 6 edge+ both have a serious bug where the screen freezes momentarily when the phone is left alone for a while..... so if you get a call for example, toughing the answer call on the screen does nothing and you miss the call.

Every device is different so everyone's experiences are different, but I can say I've had no significant problems with Android 6.0 running on a Nexus 9 tablet.
I wrote an article about it.

Cataclysm? Never heard of it.

This is the one I'm currently using, I found Chroma to be buggy as heck, although the battery life on Chroma is better it feels and acts more broken. -
Chroma drove me nuts... Thank you so much for sharing this one... Its going to be a few days before I feel like flashing a new ROM but this one is on the top of the list because I read what the difference between AOSP ROMs like Chroma and this ROM are... AOSP has never worked properly for me going all the way back to the first CM ROMs on my ancient phones... This quote intrigues me however.
The big question? Do the alarms go off... Google made a mess with doze seriously... There are reports everywhere of people literally losing 15 minutes on their clock, phone not waking for alarms (which is huge for me because I take time sensitive meds - missing them by an hour throws me into an anxious hell), and the absolute WORST... Because of the time issues, Google Authenticator doesn't give the right codes! -
My alarm has been working well up to this point, hopefully this will fix it. Worst case scenario, try out Alarmdroid it's my favorite alarm app.
-
I tried two... The AVG alarm and another one... I'm going to wait for 6.1 before I go back... I'm more willing to sacrifice my computer to Windows 10 before I'd sacrifice my phone to MM... And that says a lot considering everything you know about me...Spartan@HIDevolution likes this.
