I usually prefer a Windows or Android platform but cannot find a lightweight 9.7" tablet with an LED LCD screen like the iPads do.
I was looking at the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 but the Amoled screen causes me eyestrain and is practically unusable to me.
Question is this, everyone today seems to think additional screen brightness is an advantage, as I often read in the dark I find it anything but advantageous to be burning my eyes out.
I was all set on the iPad pro 9.7" with 128gb until I read the screen is 25% brighter than the iPad Air 2 which is putting me off and I wanted the pencil feature + 128gb on the iPad pro 9.7" with the air doesn't
Anyone have any ideas about this?

Just turn the brightness down. I am sensitive to brightness as well (my phone has to be turned to around 10% to be comfortable) so I turn off all adaptive brightness settings and just turn it down til it's comfortable.thrombox likes this.
