Strongly considering the Toshiba Q706 and the Alienware M17 for purchase.

I just stumbled upon the Qosmio 706 and like the dual video cards.

Any suggestions from your knowledgeable folks on which is better for gaming? and better build quality?

    thanks

Check out the Toshiba forums, as from what I've hear about the 706, the cards arent actually SLI. For some strange reason there is no driver support for them yet. Thats just what I've heard.

the m17 should be fine...however, ocz the major distributor will no longer be supporting flextronics' product. therefore, there will be less users and upgrades, and support for it, etc. unless another company steps up.
id wait for the m17 to get 4870's and while you are waiting, you can see if there is gonna be any news on the q706..right now its a piece of crap to tell you the truth. upgradeability is basically, as to upgrade a cpu u must literally have to walk to alaska..and thats impossible.
otherwise, check out the eurocom clevo d900f:

    http://www.eurocom.com/products/future/specselectfuture.cfm?model_id=201

should be out soon and should be the most powerful laptop "in the world"...it definitely would hit 20k and plus in 3dmark 06

not as of yet, until they fit i7(if they do) in those machines, there are other laptops for more reasonable prices that have better specs, for instance the W90.

Clevo isnt always the do all end all

the w90 doesnt even have extreme processors...its lacking. and sure other computers may beat it out when it comes to price, but without looking at the price, its gonna be the best laptop there is.
