    Hi,

I'm having a little difficulty finding an 80GB hard drive upgrade that I know for sure will work and fit in my satellite 1800, does anyone have any suggestions? I have found the MK8025GAS but it is ATA/6, is my laptop capable of supporting this device?

    Thanks,
    Mark

Many manufacturers have 80GB HDD's for a notebook. The Sat 1800's should have a standard 2.5" notebook drive installed. It just depends on the RPM speed of the drive. Seagate, Toshiba, IBM/Hitachi & Fujitsu. Most have drives with capacities upto 100GB. I'd recommend getting a drive with a minimum of 5400rpm. The one you're looking at is only 4200rpm. The faster the rotation speed, the faster the data can be read/written. It will consume a bit more power, but the decrease in your battery runtime will hardly be noticable.
