Hi, Im using a Toshiba 5005-A507. Recently I had to install Windows XP Pro SP2. Now that I have Formated, and installed I no longer have sound. Lets narrow some things down:

The sound worked on XP Home SP2 prior to the format.
The driver that windows installs after the format is: Intel Corporation CA/CAM AC'97. (which does not work)
The driver that Toshiba's website has is for a Yamaha YMF735 (AC-XG)

I have tried Toshiba's updated drivers, No sound.
    Intel's Generic driver, No sound.
    Yamahas Generic driver, No sound.
older drivers for Yamah ACXG, No sound.

I have checked all the volume controls, Ive checked in the Component services, and windows audio is on. I even called Toshiba tech support, who told me to take it to a repair shop.

If anyone out there has some idea on what to do I would really appreciate it, im stumped on this one. Thanks!

Update: I just triped over the PC, and now the sound works. Any ideas?

If the sound card daughter board is loose inside the laptop you'll get no sound even with the correct drivers.
