Toshiba has eliminated 7200rpm hard drives from their notebooks. The new generation of Satellite, Tecra and Portege and Qosmio models offer nothing faster than 5400rpm .

Hey, that's a step up from their previous 4200 rpms :) At least their moving up in this game. It is a real shame though, they should at least offer it as optional for customizable packages.

Oh I wouldn't loose any sleep over it; at the very least - one could always just purchase a 60GB or 80GB 7200rpm SATA/PATA drive from newegg.com for $70-$80 :)

I was lucky to buy my Tecra7 back in March when Toshiba still offered 7200rpm drives. My drive's read/write speed can handle my connection speed.
