    a little while ago someone said there wasnt a version of the x300 series with 8gb memory..

    heres one: X300-01G

    This looks like it only has 4GB to me - 2gb+2gb DDR3 (1066mhz)

    I think you are looking at the Maximum memory column that says 8GB
