Hello, probably this is going to be an odd question but please accept my apologies, I can not seem to figure it out well..

I have a Toshiba Tecra A3 106 with Intel's 915GME 128 MB Graphics... It used to appear as 128mb allocated memory on my system and somehow it is now limited to 64mb probably after updating my drivers or a change on the settings of this device somewhere...

I updated my bios to v.2.50 recently, could this be the reason? or the newer driver for the set? (currently I am on 6.14.10.4543)

I know I must be blind that I cannot find the setting for this...But, I need your help...

    Thanks in advance....
    Onur.

I wouls suspect the new BIOS to have changed the settings. Look in your BIOS setup menu. If there are any options to change the video memory it should be in there.

checked the bios settings and I couldn't find a setting for allocated memory there.... That's nonsense because I download the update from Toshiba's web site and it has to be compatible with my configuration...

my bios is : Phoenix Bios 2.50 ......I think that we were able to set the value in previous versions...Or I am wrong...

How much RAM do you have. I am thinking it might be automatic allocation based on the amount of memory. If its 512MB or less it might only allocate 64MB. If you 1GB or more it might allocate the full 128MB.

In any case it wont hurt your performance atleast in the games that the Intel integrated is able to play.

Thank you for your reply... I have 512mb of RAM, it used to allocate 128mb on it before...And i was able to see that allocation on information tab of the settings of Intel Graphics...

Weird... Maybe this newer update of BIOS requires 1Gb? Can we confirm that?

I figured out that this is a BIOS thing... Phoenix BIOS 2.50 does NOT contain an option to change the allocated graphics memory size from 64 mb to 128 or vice versa... My Previous BIOS had that option in ''Advanced'' tab...And.... I cannot downgrade to previous version as installer doesn't support downgrading....PS: I checked Windows settings regarding this...Found no apparent way...

Found this link regarding the issue on Toshiba's site :
    http://askiris.toshiba.com/ToshibaS...sliceId=&dialogID=1150837&stateId=0 0 1152026

Obviously this is a bug from BIOS and the source suggests that v1.70 and newer versions are fixed... I DON'T REALLY THINK SO!

ANY IDEAS TO GET AROUND THIS??

Windows wont be any help, since the BIOS is pretty much out of bounds for the OS. I think you'll probably have to take it a Toshiba service center to reflash to an older BIOS. I cant think of any other way, without any of the specialized software they use it might be the only way to rollback the BIOS.

When I got my M100 it said 128mb as well, and now says 64. I never thought it could be a bios upgrade issue. I'll check out whether I have the bios setting next time I boot up, I'm pretty sure mine is 1.7.

hmmm, then this is not only about Tecra series, but also covering Satellite family too... If your BIOS is 1.70 you should be able to change the allocated memory according to Toshiba site... But that's nonsense at the same time because different products have different BIOS release version numbers...

    who's 1.70 is that?
