Anyone got the new qosmio g35 av650 and can do the review and benchmarks? I would really like to know. Apparently it was realeased in Australia a few week before the US Model. The rest of the world got the 35 as a versions of qosmio go 30 with various numbers after it in some countries. The main difference i am looking at is the subpar graphics card of the nvidia7300. The world g30s have the 7600 with 128 or 256 mb on the card. I can't find benchmarks for any of those scores either.

We should have a review in June - the G30 (Canadian version of the G35) is being sent ealy-mid June.

I will put it through its paces.

I have had the AV650 for a few days. Overall I'm quite impressed. The video card seems pretty quick (not a big game player but I was able to run Oblivion on it at least 2x as fast as my P4 2.8GHz desktop with a Radeon 9800 Pro) and in all other respects, this is a phenomenal laptop. The screen is *excellent*. And yes, HD-DVD actually works! (ALthough the bundled WinDVD HD is a mite buggy.)

    More updates -

Toshiba posted a new driver for the GeForce Go 7600 the other day. I was able to overclock the on-board video to 500/500 (?) using RivaTuner without any stability issues whatsoever. At this speed my 3DMark 05 score is about 4,700... not too bad.

The drives are fast... I'm a little peeved that European versions apparently can get dual 120GB drives (plus the T2600) vs. the dual 100GB/T2500 configuration we get here. Another downside, it ships with two 512MB RAM modules... makes upgrading a bit of a problem. The last downside is that the black levels on the screen aren't the greatest... they're not bad by any means, in fact they're pretty good, but I'm still not missing my CRT for video work if you know what I mean.

This thing is a beast for sure... it weighs a ton. It's fast though. It's dramatically faster than my P4 2.8GHz/9800 Pro/36GB Raptor PC that I built a few years ago.

Overall, no regrets although it's certainly expensive and can be a tough sell if you don't have the funds. The CPU horsepower in this thing is available at far less cost. However I'm not sure there's anything on the market that can combine this kind of CPU power, a 17" WUXGA screen of this quality, gobs of storage, outstanding sound, HD-DVD and HDMI, as solid a graphics solution and more, into one package. I've gotten to use the new Dell XPS (1710M?) which brings more GPU horsepower to the table for the same price, however it feels like a step down in screen/sound/connectivity.

I have a Qosmio G35 AV650... does anyone know how to configure the disks as RAID 0? The instructions in the PDF user manual are apparently incomplete. One selects two disk RAID 0, and when you attempt to initiate the configuration, an error message comes back.

There are also RAID configuration options in CMOS, so probably they have to be set as well.

Toshiba tech support is next to useless, even when you get to level 3, which are apparently Toshiba employees; levels 1 and 2 are outsourced and helpless.

Also, Toshiba seems to have an online owners forum for every country except the US, incredibly, but is isn't possible to log in to the non-US sites as it won't accept my US serial number.

Anyone got any ideas on any of these topics, namely the RAID configuration and access to the forums?
