Wow! I posted here about 2 weeks ago. My son had dropped a Toshiba Satellite laptop. I called Toshiba (no long wait to talk to a tech), dropped off the machine at my local UPS Store, and had it back mailed to my home fixed at no cost exactly 7 days later!!!!! That's great service!!!!

Sfoanna, was this the std. warranty or an extended warranty? Service Guard?

I just got one and am trying to decide if the extended warranty or Service Guard (covers accidental damage) is worth the steep price. Generally, it's not, but with laptops (more prone to problems), it might be.

    Thanks!

I bought the Toshiba accidental coverage. Things like damaged power jacks and USB ports could cost a small fortune. Not to mention a damadged screen. My neighbour bought the coverage on his Dell and right after he bought the laptop his son closed the lid on a ball point pen and the screen exploded. Would have been tough to explain if he didnt have complete care.

Well, time for the truth....I bought the laptop retail, no shopping around from the local CompUsa store last fall. I was working on a project with a super tight deadline and needed to hire a helper, who had an Apple and we had some compatability issues, so i bot the toshiba with the intention of returning it within the time frame and paying the 15% restock fee. I don't remember if I bot the plan, I probably didn't - even if i did, it would have been the compusa plan, right (what a waste that would have been, since they went out of business!). So all that said, I think next time I will definitely buy the ext warranty. But I did get this fantastic service with just standard.
