I have been searching off and on for weeks for my issues. Apparently, my battery has issues charging. When I plug in the laptop, the orange light will light up and I can actually see the battery charging. But the orange light will go off randomly after some time. If I unplug the laptop for a few seconds and plug it back in, the light turns on again and continues to charge the battery. But once it reaches 100% I do not get the green fully charged light. The orange light just goes off.

I have almost always kept the laptop plugged in and it has not shut down on me before.

All the posts I found using search and also on google mention that the battery doesn't charge at all but my issue is different. It does charge but quits in the middle till some one unplugs and replugs in the power.

So, is this a battery issue or a board issue? I don't want to sink $100 on this and then find that it wasn't the battery. The laptop is running the latest BIOS and is uptodate on virus scanner and Windows XP.

    Any thoughts/ideas?

Try running the battery all the way down and recharge.
