I just got a new A105-S4284 and after formating and customizing software to my needs i noticed a blue stuck pixel in the lower left hand corner. I tried a few software that flash different colors rapidly and none of them seem to work. I also tried pressing on the screen to free it and nothing seems to work. Whats the best way to get rid of stuck pixels? Anyone have similar problems? Also what is toshiba's policy on stuck pixels? thanks

How long did you run that software that flashes through multiple colors? I've heard of those sometimes working, but you sometimes need to leave them running for a long time (like 12-24 hours) to have an effect.

Aside from that, massaging the area of the screen for an extended period of time can also sometimes help.

But these are both longshots, generally. You might just have to deal with it.

Not sure of Toshiba's policy, but a single stuck pixel probably isn't going to be enough to get them to replace it for you.

I would avoid massaging the area until you've tried flashing colors software.

Also, Toshiba requires 7 dead pixels on the screen to warrant a replacement/repair. Did you buy the notebook directly through Toshiba or through a vendor (Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.)

I bought it from CompUSA. THere are several problems with trying to return it. First off the laptop was a special deal and they dont have anymore in stock anywhere. The other problem is their return policy states that once the item is open there is a 15% restocking fee. Thats a lot of money just to return it. How successful are those videos? Is it at least a 50% success rate?

You mean the things that flash through a bunch of colors? I don't know what the success rate is, but I'm pretty sure it's a pretty tiny percentage. If stuck pixel problems could be solved with such a success rate, it would be a huge deal for laptop makers, and they'd probably even be bundling the utility with each laptop rather than have to deal with returns, etc. for stuck pixels.

I would try for any exchange with your notebook and not returning it, unless you totally hate the notebook.
