The cooling fan exhaust is on bottom and can get fully blocked if used on the
lap. I'm thinking of opening this area and using metal mesh something like the grill of a speaker. There is also an opening at the top of the fan that may be better closed? I'm just guessing at that but wouldn't it be getter having the
airflow going out the side. I have hd2600 and problems started with graphics
    when overclocked.

Don't overclock the GPU and undervolt the CPU and it should be fine.

I do want to try the undervolting cpu but wont that be bad when gaming?
I think I'm still going to go ahead with extending the air intake to fan because it
does sometimes get totally covered when on the lap. I can do a nice job and it will look fine. I was hoping somebody had input on the hole at the top of the fan
because this one lets the air escape into the case before it goes through the
    cooling fins

Undervolting does not affect the cpu clock speed at all.
