Has anyone else tried shrinking the vista partition using Disk Management and run into problems? Whenever I try the Virtual Disk service shuts down and won't proceed. Other people have done it but I'm wondering if there's something non-standard about this partition.

I can resize it successfully with third party partitioning tools. And Disk Management works fine on the logical volume I created from the free space, but it refuses to shrink the OS volume.

Any ideas? I'm worried there's a huge problem waiting to happen.
