I purchased a Satellite A200 laptop and have noticed that it has developed a white/light blue lit dead pixel in the middle of the screen a couple of days after using it.

Now I understand having a dead pixel in the corner or so but this is in the middle and is really irritating.

My question is has anyone ever been successful at getting their LCD panel replaced under warranty for the same or similar issue. Is this something Toshiba is likely to sort under warranty??

Another question is that as I bought the laptop from ebay, does the warranty still apply / transfer over to me as the second owner?

I actually bought the laptop brand new and sealed, but as I bought it like this through ebay, i obviously don't have a receipt or invoice from an authorised reseller and am technically the second owner - despite it not being registered or anything.

    Any ideas anyone?

Thanks for that. I have tried numerous utilities, namely, this, Jscreenfix, and UDPixel - no joy.

I spoke to Toshiba and they said the warranty can apply to me but unfortunetely they only consider a LCD panel faulty if there is 12 or more dead pixels :(

Have you tried to massage the pixel with your finger? It sounds like it is more of a stuck pixel than a dead one, as dead ones are usually black. Sometimes massaging it can make it get "unstuck" if all else fails.

I have tried to massage it, but it still doesn't go. Did this for quite some time and even applied a bit of gentle pressure but no joy :(
