    Now this drive usually runs cool, but latley I have been seeing 45+ up to 53C. :eek:

    These temp. are ok, you'll find most drives are guaranteed to be fine up to 60°C.

    I agree with wall street (except for the GFC they caused).

    45 is normal. Over 45 is a bit hot.

    See I don't remember the laptop getting hot when I had it last year. Could the drive be going? its been hotter ever since I used Ubuntu for a month, then went to Windows 7.

    Just because a drive is hot, it doesn't mean that it is dying. What are the temperatures of the other parts in your notebook? It may be that some other parts are getting hot and and heat is being transferred through the body og the notebook.
