I bought this laptop in 2009 and since buying it I have use it maybe twice a month for a very short period of time. Well when I took it out to use it last night, the computer came on but there was a blank screen. The fan was running and all lights were lit but there was no screen to help with troubleshooting. Of course when I called the 800 number I was informed that it was not under warranty so I would have to pay the mimimum of $119 to have it diagnosed. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or has also has this issue before and how you fixed it. I hate to purchase a new one because I have definitely not gotten my moneys worth of use for this one. Help someone!!! thanks

If you have an external monitor [or can get access to], try connecting the monitor to your laptop.
If you get an image on the external monitor, then it could be a bad LCD screen.

Try shining a flashlight on the screen, can you see an image on the screen? [if yes, then would indicate a bad backlight].

If you do need to take it to a shop, avoid Toshiba [since your not under warranty; would be the most expensive option]. Take it to a trusted local repair shop; should be cheaper and faster.

Good luck and keep us posted with results.
