I've had my A305-S6834 for about seven months, and have never had any problems with it. When I went to use it this morning, the screen saver (the default swirly colors one) was frozen on the screen, and the computer didn't respond to anything, not even Ctrl-Alt-Delete. I powered it down, and when I powered it up again, the screen didn't turn on at all; there's no splash screen or anything. I tried taking out the battery and putting it back, and I tried connecting an external monitor. (Booting up attached to an external monitor leaves that one blank as well.) At the suggestion of the help person at Toshiba I removed the battery and the AC adapter and held the power button for ten seconds, but that didn't help. It's been working fine for several days and just sitting on a desk, so I doubt that anything was physically damaged by being bumped or anything, and I haven't installed or updated anything recently as far as I can remember.
When I have it plugged in, the "plug" and "battery" indicator lights are on; when I turn it on, the power indicator light comes on and the cylinder-looking one flashes for a while, then stops, but at no point does the screen display anything. My USB mouse isn't getting power, and pressing the caps lock key doesn't turn on its LED light. The computer doesn't make any unusual sounds. From searching around, I think I might have a system board problem. Is that what it is? Is there anything I can do to fix it, or should I send it in to Toshiba? (I live very far away from any of the Toshiba Service providers.)

Just curious if you figured out your problem. My Toshiba is having very similar symptoms, so I'm wondering what your resolution was.

Hey man, its your motherboard problem dying out, I think. The best possible thing I can suggest is ship it to Toshiba and let them deal with it (hoping you got your receipt and under warranty)
