I ahve a new A660-1DZ and it works fine when connected to a 1080p TV and DVDs look good upscaled for the TV. It must be running in 1080p mode because the desktop content on the TV is so tiny!
If the TV resolution was 1280x720 I think Id be able to use the TV as a PC display with a cordless keyboard and mouse at a sensible distance (it's a 42" TV).
So I wonder if there is a way to switch to 720p mode for PC use and back to 1080p for DVDs?
Thanks for any help on this.

Sure, set your resolution to 1280x720 in your display control panel, then change it back when your done.

If you have an ATI video card you can setup a profile to do this so you can do it on the fly, Nvidia cards may have this but I am not sure.

BTW if your TV accepts 1080p and scales it down to 720p it makes things so hard to read, not because they are small but due to lack of pixels needed to render content properly.

Definitely use the native resolution of the display.

Thank you for solving this for me. Changing the resolution works perfectly. I know the resolution the display is working in because I have my own browser HTML homepage which sets the browser window to 1120x740 and positions it offset to the right. With resolution 1920x1080 the window is very small and just sits at the top off the TV screen right of centre.
    Thanks again
