So my laptop(A665-3DV) is out of warranty as of last month. My laptop has been overheating lately and wanted to add some new thermal paste to the CPU and GPU. So I took it apart, removing everything carefully. Removed the goober of a job the last in home technician did of remove the mess of thermal paste all over the chips. After I cleaned it up and applied new paste and put everything back together. Now, when I turn on the laptop, I get a black screen for about 15-20 secs and then the screen lights up, but it is all scrambled and lines going everywhere. I have tried checking it by trying HDMI to another monitor, but I get no signal. Also sometimes I can hear it beeps and I believe if I leave it on the scrambled screen it will reboot itself and start the process over.
Now this is where my goober moment lies(lots of stress lately). So I tore it back down to see if there was anything that I forgot, I did notice that did forget the lock the CPU back before turning it on the first time, but even after locking it back and trying once more, I got the same result.
So I am wondering if for it to get an HDMI signal does it have to be booted into Windows or should it be able to get it booting? Could it just be the video cable to the monitor. Thing is I didn't touch or do anything that I am aware of that could have caused this. This laptop seems to be finicky than most, I have torn down and rebuilt many laptops over my years, but this is picky to me.

Also, sometimes the video cable can be seated incorrectly [maybe you accidentally knocked it loose]. Just try unplugging/re-plugging it back it and see if that helps.
