Hi,
I currently own a Toshiba A70 with a 64 mb shared video card, but I need at least a 128 ddr mb card for a new program for my business. Is it possible to change the video card? If yes is it a do it yourself? And does anybody knows a good and "cheap" video card that would be compatible with my laptop??
Thank you very much for your help,
Louis

Louis,
I'm sory to be the one to tell you this, but systems with shared video memory can't be upgraded. Acutally, notebook video cards are generally non-upgradable. This is one of the pitfalls with buying a notebook. It's usually best to buy a notebook that exceeds your current requirements, this way you'll be on par with any future needs.
What kind of app requires 128MB video memory to operate? CAD?

U CAN BOST UR VIDEO CARD BUY GOING INTO THE DISPLY PROPERTIES(SOZ ABOUT SPELLING) GOING ONTO THE SETTINGS TAB AND THEN CLICKING ADVACED WHEN IN THERE U CAN CLICK ON ANOTHER TAB CALLED FRAME BUFFER CLICK ON THAT THEN SELECT 128. THIS WILL BOOST YOUR VIDEO BY TAKING SOME OF YOUR RAM. THE COMPUTER WILL ASK TO BE RESTARTED DO IT AND YOUR DONE. HOPE IT HELPS.

You can bump it up to 128 BUT you need to have the RAM upgraded in order to do that. I think it has to be up to either 768 or 1024 because the graphics card is shared. Check the manual.

Hi and thanks everyone, it did help, but I will have to buy a memory upgrade as soon as my finance (or girlfriend [B)]) allows it.
For the curious one I need the memory for a 3D golf software I use with a swing analyser. With the help of sensors it determine the path and angle of the clubhead, the speed of the club head and of the ball, the trajectory of the ball and the spin angle and spin rate of the ball (that'S what creat your big ugly slice [])The progtram as a very pretty virtual driving range and holes that is all in 3D graphic. So you can see the exact path of the ball reacting with wind, rough, lie, etc. The graphics are amazing but need a lot of video memory.
Thanks again, Louis
