Hi, I have an A75-S231 laptop that I don't plan to replace for at least a couple more years. I'm interested in whether I can replace the stock hard drive (100gb, 4500 rpm) with a faster hard drive?
If anyone knows if this is feasible or not I'd appreciate your time to reply. Thanks a lot.
    Andy

How much ram have you got? You will see a massive increase in performance going to a 7200rpm. But a 5400rpm will also be a good step up. I upgraded my old notebook from a 4200rpm to a 7200, and the difference was worth every penny. :D

Hi, thanks for the reply. I have the stock onboard 512k which I'm upping to a gig and a half soon. I'm interested in whether the A75 series can also accept a faster hard drive so that I can make the most of this computer for a few more years.

Your notebook can only accept IDE hdds. Ram would show a big improvement. a 2.5'' 5400rpm IDE (aka PATA) is what you are looking for.

Thanks Johnny, I'm actually ordering the RAM today. I'll look into the HDD for a while.
