Hello, Just wanted to give you guys a little heads up if you use USB 3.0 devices such as myself. I always carry my Goflex 1TB hard drive and back up everything to it. Its great since it doesnt need a external power source. On my previous Laptop (HP DV7) i was able to use the USB 3.0 ports which gave me about 80mbs writes/reads. Which is average for this Gloflex model on USB 3.0. When i got my Qosmio my drive only saw 28mb writes and 24mb reads on USB 2.0. THis really sucks when transfering large files from or to my Gloflex. So I did a little research and came up with the AKE 54mm ExpressCard USB 3.0 Adaptor. At first i was skeptical about the speeds, and even driver issues, but i decided to give it a try.
I Found this one on Amazon:
Amazon.com: Express card 54mm To 2 Port USB 3.0 expresscard: Electronics
I figured it was worth a shot for under $13. It arrived the following day I ordered it which was awesome. Plug it right in, installed the two drivers on the CD provided, and windows recognized it. Checked the speed and now I get CONSISTENT mid 80mbs Read/Write. Makes transfering files sooooo easier.
So for $13.00 my transfer speeds on the USB ports are almost 3x more. And other deviced should get even higher transfer rates.
Also wanted to mention it looks great. Its flush againts the side of computer so nothing sticks out and IT DOESNT REQUIRE AN EXTERNAL POWER SOURCE. The package has a external power source for the adaptor, but after researching it it looks like the 54mm Version is able to get enough juice unlike the 34mm version. I get the same Rates with the power adaptor and without it.

Hey. I am also one of that guys who already have express card to USB 3.0. I have 34mm one.
Expresscard slot gives 5V power. while some devices need more. So looks like your HDD needs only 5V. You can try to go to mall and check 2TB HDD if you have enough time
