Toshiba has 20% off custom notebooks at their site. I want a note book for dual booting XP and Ubuntu. I will use windows for games, and VPN to my work. Ubuntu will be for web dev, and learning Java.

    Here's how it looks now:
Core 2 Duo 1.66Mhz 677Mhz front side bus (money saver, I'll upgrade later)
    1GB 677Mhz DDR2 1 stick (again upgrade later)
Nvidia Go 7600 256MB (I'm thinking about the 128MB, but afraid I'll regret it)
    120GB HD
    - Matte, or Trubrite I'm torn.
    - Stereo or Harmon Kardon (are the Harmons worth $30?)
    Super Multi Drive
    Wireless, no bluetooth.

Looks like about $1250 shipped. That sound decent?

My biggest hold up is the screen. I will be doing a lot of reading on this machine. I don't think I will watch that many movies, I will be editing photo's and playing a few games. I have matte on my current Toshiba and it's pretty bright after 4 years of daily use. I don't really like the glare I see on the Trubrite screens in the stores but I do like the extra color and sharpness in controlled light. Is the TruBrite worth $50?
