Someone please help me, this is driving me nuts. I have an A205-S5859 and sometimes I will go to raise or lower my volume, and explorer.exe crashes. This is driving me nuts. Is this a hardware issue or software?

    It is a software issue...

Im not sure... Make sure you have the latest sound card drivers and Vista updates. How long has it been happening? Try doing a system restore back to a date when you didnt have the peoblem (if applicable)

You may need to do a full factory restore.

Ive never heard of that before...

Hmm, that makes me think it could be hardware (somehow)

Does it occur when you ajust volume from the system tray volume panel as well?

I also have strange effects on ocassion from the volume wheel on the front. satellite a200. seems sometimes vista or certain apps interpret movement of the wheel as keystrokes.

the keystroke thing happens to me on my qosmio f55 too. I think its because they use the wheel to register a keystroke, which changes the volume. Basically, the keystroke changes the volume, so they program the wheel to use those keystrokes
