I just put in another hard drive in my Toshiba x305, so now I have 2. The thing is, it didn't come with a caddyBut, what I did was try to see if it would fit with one. So, I put my 1st hard drive with a caddy in the second bay below, but it just wouldn't fit. I also tried to do it with another caddy I found laying around the house, but it wouldn't fit either. So far the one without the caddy has to be on the bottom because with the one with caddy can't fit!
So, this is the question:
Can you open up your hard drive panel and see if both of your hard drives have the same caddy and tell me how they are fitting?
Thanks!![]()

just a quick question, how easy was it to open it up?
-
I fit my second drive without a caddy, I used an old SD memory card case wedged between them to take the excess space up between them, they dont rattle or come loose and have been fine for the 10 days ive had it
-
All you need to do is this:
1. Make sure it is turned off
2. Flip it over and take out the battery
3. Open up the HD cover, it has two screws on the bottom. The cover is right on the side where the 2 USB ports are located and where the inputs are for audio (i.e. headphones)
4. Slide the hard drive back and it will come out.
It is quite easy.
Also, what I am doing right now is putting a piece of plastic about as thick as 3 sheets of paper underneath where the blue board is and so far its ok, but could be more tight. I will have to think of something later. I just want to know how it is for the people that got 2 hard drives stock. -

oh so that cover is for the hard drive space thats empty so we can put another on in there?
so the one thats in there now isint accesable from the outside? -
Yes, we can add one more. Here is the site for the one I got, the same exact 200GB 7200 RPM that came with mine:

If you do get a hard drive, PM when you get it so I can tell you how to set it up, its not the easiest thing in the world.
And the one that is in there now isn't accessible unless you open up the cover. Then its accessible. However, sadly due to the hard drives being on top of each other, I no longer get 100 Farenheit HD temps. They stay at around 110-115 now.
Toshiba is stupid for making them go on top of each other especially in that cramped space!!!!!!!!!!!
They could have had them separate and right next to each other like the gateway p7811 I believe, and some asus g51 or something. (not sure on the laptops that have them but I know some do). -

so what do you guys think of this one??

the 320GB 5400 rpm hd is supposidly just as fast as a 200gb 7200 hd, because of its size. its also cheaper and doesnt get as hot.
so i might put this one in in the next 1 - 2 months.
and is it possible to put in a 40gb or so , SSD? if i was going to, i would reinstall the OS onto that, to make it faster and bootup times better. -
Yes, you can put in an SSD. However, I'd probably go with a 32 or 64GB SSD just for the OS. And putting in a 320GB will be good, but not as fast overall just because of the size. The second drive that I put in is the same exact drive as the stock one that came with the Toshiba, but it is 10-20% faster!!
Also, be warned that the hard drives will probably come without a caddy.
Check my owner's lounge for updated info about hard drive.
