Any Qosmio G40 owners out there? Deciding between that and the Satellite X200

    Hey all

So as the title says, I am wondering if there are any Qosmio G40 owners out there. I have searched high and low for reviews and opinions as to what people thought of this unit but I have come up with nothing.

I am at a deadlock trying to decided which unit to purchase (apart from factoring in the Asus G2S).

Both have their pros and cons

    X200
Pro: Vista Ultimate, 1 GB Turbo Memory, Nvidia 8700M GT 512MB (although I am not a gamer at all)
Con: Still 1440x900, 180W power brick

    G40:
Pro: WUXGA Screen, HD DVD-R Drive, TV Tuner, reminds me a lot of my P20 (which I miss big time!!)
Con: Vista Home Premium, Nvidia 8600M GT 256MB (although again I am not a gamer lol)

Ultimately what I will be using my laptop for will be to surf, watch movies other movie files, digital photo editing, school work (there is a method to madness as to why Ultimate is a pro).

So yeah any opinions, insight, help would be greatly appreciated

    Cheers

The 180W power brick is like a real brick, really big, not really portable.

One thing I meant to ask, I checked out Toshiba Europe's Support page for the X200 to inquire about the XP drivers, thanks to a thread here. Just wondering, is there something similar for the G40?

Why do they need such a big 180W brick?

    I saw even asus 17" G2S is using just a 90W one....

    no not really

However, i did truly enjoy and love my Toshiba P20...I can't seem to find a hp that I like, the Asus G2S sounds like a sweet machine, but I dont know anywhere in Ottawa and Montreal that has a unit for me to play with.. :D

Seems a little odd to me that you have to pick between either the 8700M in the X205 or the 1920x1200 WUXGA+ screen in the G40. I want both, damnit.

Dude, these laptops are for gaming, why get such an expensive laptop by the time you do not want to play games on it? It will be a real waste of money... There are a lot of 17-inch widescreen laptops that are not as expensive as the Satellite X205, Qosmio G40, or even the Asus G2S.
