I am interested in the Satellite X205-S9349 & X205-S9359. Especially in the S9349 verison. Is their any X205-S3949 owners out there that can tell me how good the 'puter is. Especially for games. I know by the specs, the X205-S9359 kicks some major butt. But I was wondering how much butt does the S9349 kicks. Thanks :D

You give people 10 hours on a Sunday morning and decide nobody likes it because there's no responses?

Be patient. I have a P200-ST2061, which has very similar (but not identical) hardware and am very pleased with it. Besides, the X205 is very new and there likely aren't many of them out there yet.

Well i just posted this in another x205 thread..

"I bought the X205-S9359 from Compusa last Thursday night. It went back to the store this morning. Had a bit of a wrestling match with the manager to avoid the 15% restocking fee!

Right now i'm using a Dell XPS M170 with an Intel Pentium M 2.1ghz, 2gb ram, Nivida Go 7800 GTX. XP PRO SP2. 6755 is my 3dMark05 with stock speeds.

I've played WOW, Fable, Oblivion, Supreme Commander on this laptop either 1920x1200 or 1680x1050 at 30+ FPS easy! Fable and WOW were close to a smooth steady 60fps.

The Toshiba Laptop running Vista Ultimate was not even close. Fable was terrible. WOW was terrible. Oblivion was terrible. seems like a took a 30% to 40% hit in frame rate in each game. Vista? the drivers? Dunno.. dont care.

Just ordered a Dell XPS M1710 w/ Core2Duo 2.3ghz, 1gb ram (4gb from mushkin already ordered), 80gb 7200 Sata HD, Nvidia GO 7950 GTX, XP Pro SP2 for $2,688.00 w/ tax $2,889.62. Those nice folks at Dell applied a $500 savings if i paid with a Dell Prefered Account.

Soooo.. It came down to smaller HD space, no numeric keypad, and no HD-DVD drive. But i've gained a way better core laptop thats going to be upgradable.

    Helm"

Toshiba do not make great gaming laptops. Period. Just look at the one in my sig. Vista performance BLOWS and they have yet to acknowledge an issue. It's better to talk to a wall than with their tech support because you'll get nowhere. Toshiba really needs a better department to handle the tech support for these higher end gaming notebooks because every tech support agent thinks your a noob at computing.

I dont know, I believe Toshiba makes great computers. As my sig shows, Ive owned a number of toshiba laptops and they have all been good computers.

THe one I have now, the A100 has the go 7600 graphics card and it usualyl handles any game I play on it with decent performance.

but if you truly want gaming, maybe a desktop is a better option as they are usually cheaper and you can get much better bang for your buck.

I have a 205s4557 and I am happy with it. i do not do gaming . I have had several Hp notebooks and the fan ran all the time and the laptop bottom was very hot. The touch pad on the Toshiba is 1000% better then HP. The support on Toshiba is also 1000% better and they speak English.

It's funny you should all mention how Toshiba "blows", as you so elegantly put it, at gaming. I seem to remember a certain team of testers stating that it plays Crysis beautifully at widescreen resolution on a Toshiba X205.

Could it be that all the bloatware on the Toshiba make it "blow" at gaming. I would be very surprised and angry :mad2: if I paid $2500 for a 'puter and it really sucked at gaming. I believe though that the S9349 version maybe suspect at gaming. That's why I asked if any S9349 owners are happy with their purchase and are having a grand ole time gaming on it. :D

I know Chaz is going to release a review on it but I keep forgetting which model he's reviewing. :confused2:

Age of Wind, what games are you playing and do you know the FPS that you're getting from them?

BF 2 , Thief 3, Guild Wars, CS:Source. I could run them on high easily with no slowdowns at all. I have to install and run Rivatuner to show the exact fps but the gameplay is exremely smooth.

I will try FEAR, STALKER with the Rivatuner ASAP.

IMO, the 8700M GT shouldn't be even compared to any class of the 79XX series... Want the ultimate gaming notebook, go for 7950 GTX Go or some SLI stuff, not the 8700M

I was having problems with mine sometimes locking up while surfing the net. I downloaded the latest bios and the latest intel wireless drivers at the same time, so not sure which solved the problem, but everything is good now. I cleared out all of the bloatware, installed 4 gigs of ram and threw the swapfile on the 2nd drive, and this thing runs like a desktop. I'm happy with it...

Hi, I would love to have this shipped to my country in Asia/Singapore :)

Can someone help on these or provide pictures?
I would like to know if:
    1. Power Adapter
    - is it international voltage range?
    2. Power Plug
    - does it provide for different international sockets in the box?
    3. Warranty
    - does it cover you when your travel abroad??
    4. Ext HDTV Tuner
    - Is it hardware specific to USA? NTSC or PAL or both?
    or software switch-able?
    5. HDDVD Drive
    - Is it writeable?
    - Is it region-coded in hardware to only play US DVDs? or software selectable?
    6. HDMI + other outputs etc
    - are these region specific as well or internationally-usable? i.e. NTSC+PAL

    and any additional suggestions/comments?

    Many Thanks.
    Dan.
