now, every newly released Toshiba notebook computer shipped in Canada will include an Absolute Laptop Retriever icon on the desktop that will provide details about the product and enable consumers to purchase and install three years of laptop protection for $119.95.

February 16, 2005 -- Because the Computrace software is enabled in the Secure Flash area of the PC, it is extremely difficult for unauthorized parties to remove or alter it. Because the Computrace capability is “locked-down” within the PC, the location of Computrace-protected computers can be tracked even if the hard drive is reformatted or if the operating system is replaced.

anybody knows whether the computrace in the " Secure Flash area of the PC'" is the case for the M40?

Guaranteed theft recovery available on new Toshiba notebook computers

Absolute Software’s Laptop Retriever™ guarantees that Canadians can locate a stolen Toshiba system

VANCOUVER, CANADA -- June 2004 -- Absolute® Software, a leading provider of services and software for computer security and asset management, today announced that effective June 14, 2004, newly released Toshiba notebook computers sold in Canada include an offer to purchase Laptop Retriever, Absolute Software’s PC Theft Recovery solution.

Laptop Retriever is the consumer version of Absolute’s Computrace® Plus product, the Company’s enterprise PC tracking and loss control product used by corporations, educational institutions, and government organizations.
