Hi,
I'm trying to decide between the Lenovo T61, Dell D630 and Tecra A9.
I can't seem to find any review on the A9, so any information would be helpfull. If someone with an A8 can comment on his laptop it would be also great.
Thanks,
Tzach

Me too! I like to see a review on the A9, even the M9.
What is Toshiba return policy if you dont like it? -
As all of my machines where IBM up to now, I'm interested to know:
- Built quality of Tecra (can it withstand coffee spills and small drops)
- Battery
- Heat issues
- Screen quality
- Toshiba suppport (mostly drivers availability)
I'm going to use it as a business/development laptop so dedictaed graphics is not of importance. -
I have been pondering to buy the A9 too now for days. Sadly I couldn't find a shop where I could take a look at it myself and the only review I have found is in german alas. But there are a lot of pictures to look at and some test tables (sone, benchmarks...) too.

I'll try to sum up what they basically said,
on the plus side:
- unobstrusive design
- compact and robust
- durable input devices with a good layout
- non glare display with a good resolution and good contrast (they tested
the 15,4 wide screen model with 1680x1050 pixels) - decent office performance with santa rosa technology
- fair to middling noise output and decent temperature level
- good sound
not so good:
- possibility of causing light deformation (yield? sorry I am not a native speaker) at the underside of the case (but only when pressed very hard)
- connection options are only so-so
- when using the notebook outdoors, the brightness of the screen could be a bit higher.
1 to 4 hours. The reviewer sounded quite impressed with the stability and buckling resistance of the notebook, there seem to be no creaking hinges and the display doesn't teeter; Toshiba claims also that the keyboard is immune to splash water.
It seems to be a robustly built business notebook without any shenanigans certainly not meant for the avid gamer. Though I heard that the GMA X3100 graphics chip just might allow for a WOW session now and then... It at least supports Direct X 10.
Ah, I almost forgot: I found out that the models with the T7100 core duo processor only support the old network standard while the more expensive T7500 version (don't know about the T7300 ones) support Intel 4965AGN (802.11a/b/g/n). The difference between the models is also 1 or 2 GB of memory, and a screen resolution of either 1280x800 or 1680x1050 pixels.
I hope this was helpful in a way (and somehow coherent). -
Thank you for the link. Finally a test for the A9.
The same article can be read in English. Just select the appropriate flag (U.K) in the upper right bar on the page.
